lenovo x1 carbon closeup ces 2019

  • Lenovo's 7th-generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon was the best laptop of CES 2019.
  • It's incredibly light-weight — lighter than the new 2018 MacBook Air which is known for its lightness.
  • It is the perfect combination of performance, design, and portability, making the new X1 Carbon as good as it gets when it comes to laptops.

Conceptual design and technology in laptops was surprisingly scant at CES this year, which left no choice but to pick a refreshing, unapologetically practical and reasonable top laptop of CES 2019.

It's the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th-generation, and I'm completely enamored by its absurdly lightweight and beautiful, traditional, and signature IBM/Lenovo design. Indeed, it's lighter than the new 2018 MacBook Air, which is already incredibly light.

lenovo x1 carbon ces 2019

ces 2019 graphicWorthy of note, Lenovo's ThinkPad series of laptops also consistently have the best keyboards and trackpads on Windows devices. All this combined with great specs makes the Lenovo ThinkPad Carbon X1 the most desirable laptop I saw at CES 2019. I nearly tried to buy it right there and then at the show.

What it is: A laptop that's lighter than Apple's lightest and thinnest laptop — the new 2018 MacBook Air — with a classic, yet, modern aesthetic, and great specs.

Who makes it: Lenovo.

Why it's the best: It's easy to put great specs in any computer, but less easy to make it look good. To make a powerful laptop that looks great and weighs under 2.5 pounds is a feat that should get the attention it deserves.

Where and when you can get it: From Lenovo starting June 2019.

How much it will cost: Price is estimated at $1,710, which is a little higher than I'd like, but it's not the final pricing.

The best TV we saw at CES 2019

lg signature oled tv r

  • The LG Signature OLED TV R stole the show at last year's CES, and it was still the most impressive TV at CES 2019.
  • The major TV trend at CES 2019 was 8K resolution, and it looks incredible, but at the end of the day they were essentially just TVs with upgraded resolutions.
  • LG is the dominant force in OLED panels, which allow for flexible designs like the Signature OLED TV R.

CES 2019 was packed with gorgeous and amazing TVs, but the model that stole the show was last year's incredible LG rollable OLED TV, which is now called the LG Signature OLED R.

Indeed, the LG Signature OLED R was still the most impressive TV at CES this year, despite 8K resolution being the trend. It's not that 8K TVs from companies like Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp, Sony, TCL, Hisense, et al., are bad, but rather that the Signature OLED R is simply still more innovative in terms of design and technology than a resolution upgrade.

ces 2019 graphicMuch of the Signature OLED R's appeal comes from LG's dominance over OLED display technology, which not only looks the best but is flexible and allows for unique and innovative TV designs and functions.

No other TV that uses traditional LCD display technology can roll itself into an enclosure when you're not using it or can adjust its height to eliminate letterboxing — when a video, typically a movie, is shot in a nonstandard aspect ratio, resulting in black bars above and below the actual picture.

What it is: A TV that can also roll itself into an enclosure when not in use or can adjust its height for certain content.

Who makes it: LG Electronics

Why it's the best: OLED delivers the ultimate in picture quality, and the Signature OLED R is the most distinct in terms of design and function. No other TV does what it can do. It also comes with a built-in soundbar with one of the most highly rated audio standards, Dolby Atmos.

Where and when you can get it: No details on where yet, but it'll be available in the second half of 2019, according to LG.

How much it will cost: No price announcements as of yet, but expect something astronomical.

Coral One robot vacuum

  • The Coral One vacuum is the best robot I saw at this year's CES.
  • It can vacuum a floor without human input by using sensors to detect obstacles and create a map of your home.
  • Unlike a Roomba or other robot vacuums, the Coral One has a detachable component that allows for manual vacuuming of elevated or hard-to-reach surfaces.
  • The Coral One's biggest downside is its $599 price tag (you can buy a robot vacuum for less than half of that).

The Coral One vacuum is far from the flashiest robot at this year's International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), but it's the one I'd most like to own.

Like a Roomba, the Coral One can vacuum a floor without human input by using sensors to detect obstacles and create a map of your home. But unlike a Roomba or other robot vacuums, the Coral One has a detachable component that allows for manual vacuuming of elevated or hard-to-reach surfaces.

Coral One robot vacuum

A robot vacuum that includes a manual vacuum may not sound as exciting as a robot that can dance, play ping-pong, or play rock-paper-scissors (all of which are on display at this year's CES), but its benefits are more practical. The Coral One's biggest downside is its $599 price tag (you can buy a robot vacuum for less than half of that), but there's no robot I saw at CES 2019 I'd rather own.

What it is: Coral One robot vacuum

Who makes it: Coral

Why it's the best: Many robots I saw at CES had impressive capabilities, but didn't seem very practical. The Coral One is useful for almost anyone.

Where and when you can get it: Coral's website

How much it will cost: $599

savvy electric mirror ces 2019

  • Business Insider scoured the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to find the very best cutting-edge tech.
  • The best lifestyle tech we saw at CES 2019 had to be Electric Mirror's Savvy Smart Mirror, a gorgeous mirror that can also display information, run apps, play music and videos, and much more.
  • While it's targeted towards hotels, the Savvy Smart Mirror has great potential to enhance any kind of lifestyle.

LAS VEGAS - Mirrors are perhaps the most underrated part of any home. We use them all the time, primarily as feedback mechanisms: to know if we've done a good job brushing our teeth, or brushing our hair, or picking our outfit for the day.

ces 2019 graphicThat's why Electric Mirror had the best lifestyle tech we saw at CES 2019, with its Savvy Smart Mirror — a device that improves upon one of the most useful items we keep in our homes.

The Savvy Smart Mirror has the mirror aspect down, but it just looks futuristic. Being able to see important information like the weather, or the news — stuff you might want to see before leaving in the morning, or sleeping at night — is not only useful, it's pretty cool.

Since it runs on Android (albeit an older version: 7.1 "Nougat"), the Smart Mirror can also run full apps, like Pandora for music. It's a mirror, but it's also a massive touchscreen. And down the line, we could see it getting even better with more smart-home controls and mirror-specific applications, to take advantage of the unique form factor.

The Savvy Smart Mirror is available in 10-inch and 22-inch sizes — on the showroom floor at CES, we saw two 22-inch panels working next to each other, which we could imagine in a large home or even a hotel. Given how much we all rely on mirrors, we could see an interactive mirror having great potential for an improved lifestyle.

What it is: An interactive mirror that shows you information.

Who makes it: Electric Mirror, Inc., based in Everett, Washington.

Why it's the best: Mirrors are essential to any lifestyle. They tell us how we look, and how we present ourselves, but the Savvy Smart Mirror can tell you even more than that — it can tell you the weather, or the news, or tell you about interesting attractions nearby, or let you control the lights in your room. It's equally appealing to businesses and consumers, and it could have a big impact on not only lifestyle, but happiness.

Where and when you can get it: It's currently available through Electric Mirror's website.

How much it will cost: Electric Mirror will give you a quote based on your specific needs and setup.

A fitness guru who goes by 'Iceman' says exposure to extreme temperatures is a lifesaving third pillar of physical health

wim hof the iceman dutch extreme athlete

  • Wim Hof is an extreme athlete from the Netherlands who holds dozens of world records for activities like swimming in ice water and running barefoot in the snow.
  • The self-described "Iceman" promotes a fitness regimen that includes cold water plunges and a special breathing procedure.
  • The scientific evidence behind his cold-exposure technique is still limited, but a few studies suggest it works.

The "Iceman" was 17 when he first dove, unclothed, into the bone-chilling waters of Amsterdam's Beatrixpark Canal. It just felt right.

"I felt this attraction to the cold water," Wim Hof, who has become something of a fitness guru, told Rolling Stone in 2017. "After I went in, I felt this understanding, an inside connection. It gave me a rush. My mind was free of gibberish."

The plunge laid the groundwork for a series of world records that Hof has set, including the farthest swim under ice and the fastest barefoot half-marathon on ice/snow. Hence the Dutch athlete's nickname: Iceman.

Hof proselytizes what he calls the "Wim Hof Method," a three-pronged combination of breathing, cold exposure, and meditation. The 59-year-old has followers around the world, and even offers a free mini-course online in six languages.

"Over time, we as humans have developed a different attitude towards nature and we've forgotten about our inner power," Hof explains on his site. "This is the ability of our body to adapt to extreme temperature and survive within our natural environment."

The idea, as journalist and anthropologist Scott Carney explains it in his book "What Doesn't Kill Us," is that along with a healthy diet and regular exercise, our bodies might need environmental stress to reach the highest level of fitness.

There is some research to support this— getting out into the cold may increase our beneficial brown fat stores, which help keep us warm and convert stored-up energy (ahem, pudge) into heat. But the scientific jury is still out.

The Iceman's method

The first thing to master, Hof says, is his breathing technique.

"You will understand 'high on your own supply' when you do this," he says in a video demonstration.

The technique takes a bit of practice. Hof recommends trying it laying down. It involves first completing a series of about 30 active, deep breaths in, followed by passive breaths out. The idea is to take in more and more oxygen with every breath, breathing in deeper and deeper. After this, Hof asks practitioners to exhale for "as long as you can, without force." Finally, people take a last deep breath in and hold it for about 10 seconds. The goal is to perform four rounds of this cycle.

It's somewhat like the ancient yogic Pranayama breathing techniques. Hof says the practice's calming, therapeutic effects function like a miracle cure for everything from inflammation to anxiety.

After his first wife died by suicide, Hof doubled-down on his three-pronged technique, crediting it with helping ease symptoms of depression and physical pain.

wim hof iceman world record ice bath.JPG

Aside from the breathing, Hof also swears by frequent cold showers and ice baths. Ice can reduce inflammation and swelling, but Hof also suggests that cold exposure can rev up the metabolism, improve sleep, sharpen focus, and improve the immune system (these claims are debated among scientists). Finally, Hof touts some focus and meditation techniques.

"We believe you can train your brain to increase willpower and self-control," he says on his site.

The science behind Hof's technique

Hof's fervor for cold stress makes sense intuitively: when we’re forced into colder conditions, our bodies have to work harder to stay at 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

There are some time-tested benefits to cold exposure: stepping out of our 72-degree "cocoon" from time to time can boost the body's metabolism.

One study of hundreds of Finnish workers in the 1980s found that lumberjacks, painters, farmers, and other men who worked outside in northern Finland — where the average winter temperatures are always below freezing— carried more protective brown fat around their necks and hearts than indoor workers. And a small study of seven men who worked in 14-degree-Fahrenheit cold found that they expended more energy and burned more fat than they did when exercising at room temperature.

In his book, Carney describes how he adopted Hof's technique of cold baths and breathing. Scientists at the University of Colorado in Boulder then studied him, and observed that Carney's body switched into a boosted fat-burning mode, a feat equivalent to including an extra hour of cardio exercise per day.

Read More: I tried the new fat-burning workout where you're immersed in cold temperatures, and it was surprisingly tough

Still, modern-day humans don't carry around as much brown fat as our ancestors who lived without any climate control. What's more, studies show that there's essentially no difference between the brown fat stores of people living near the poles and those in the tropics around the equator. Even in a study of Hof's own family, researchers found that the Iceman has the same amount of brown fat as his identical twin brother, who does not tend to venture out into Arctic conditions in his skivvies.

So it's tough to know how much our brown fat stores can budge, or whether cold exposure affects how much brown fat we have.

wim hof iceman breathing technique

Exposure to extremes can be unsafe

Some researchers who've studied Hof suggest he may harbor a "stress-induced analgesic response" that relieves pain. His increased cold tolerance could also be a byproduct of the breathing and mental-training exercises he uses, which are similar to Tummo meditation techniques popular with Tibetan Buddhist monks.

Meditation is certainly an effective way to tamp down stress and inflammation-linked proteins in the body, and there's even some evidence that it may play a role in decreasing feelings of anxiety and depression, while improving focus. One study compared 12 people following Hof's method to 12 control subjects, and found that Wim Hof followers may benefit from a "pro-inflammatory" immune response, possibly as a result of hyperventilation they undergo during breathing exercises.

But as far as environmental exposure is concerned, it's important to remember that when people stay in cold conditions for too long, their core temperature drops, leading them to become delirious and unconscious, suffer tissue damage, and even die.

wim hof training ice water

At least a few men have died in cold waters practicing Hof's techniques. People can develop hypothermia more quickly in frigid water, since heat is pulled away 25 times faster from us in water than in the air.

One of the first signs of hypothermia is shivering and shuddering. Interestingly, lab tests showed that Hof doesn't shiver as quickly as most people do, and neither does his twin.

This $80 smartwatch has a longer battery life than the Apple Watch or Fitbit and many of the same features — here's what it's like

amazfit bip main

  • The Amazfit Bip ($79.99) proves you don't have to spend more than $100 for a good smartwatch.
  • I've worn it daily for more than a month and primarily use it to keep track of my physical activity and sleep and to receive phone notifications.
  • While it lacks the sleek sophistication of its $200 to $350 counterparts, it still impressed us with its month-long battery life and variety of features you'll use every day.

Though Apple and Fitbit are probably the first names to come to mind when you think of wearables, Chinese wearables company Huami is quietly giving them a run for their money with its under-$100 Amazfit Bip smartwatch.

I've been wearing it for the last five weeks and had multiple friends mistake it for an Apple Watch. It never gets any less satisfying for me to explain that it's actually a smartwatch they've never heard of, and it costs a fraction of its more famous doppelgänger.

The Amazfit Bip is only $80, but has so many useful features that you'll be surprised it doesn't cost more: fitness, heart rate, and sleep tracking, physical activity guidance, and the ability to receive app, call, and text notifications. It can also act as a timer, stopwatch, compass, or personal weatherman. It does all of this on an incredible battery that lasts for weeks (yes, plural).

amazfit colors

As a longtime Fitbit user, I can say without a doubt that wearing a fitness tracker has improved my health by motivating me to move more, whether that involves going for an evening run in order to maintain my run streak, or simply taking a lap around the office when I've been sitting down for too long. With the Amazfit Bip, you can set step goals, then see how much you're walking and how many calories you've burned, down to each hour of the day. When you haven't moved in a while, you'll get a nudge in the form of a watch vibration, and the watch celebrates when you've reached your daily step goal.

The watch can also accompany you on activities like outdoor running or cycling and track stats like your pace, heart rate, and stride, but in my experience the activity guidance features weren't always completely accurate, and I preferred using the Nike Run app. It works perfectly, however, as a casual day-to-day activity tracker.

activity tracking

The sleep tracking function, made more accurate with the watch's heart rate monitor, is also the source of endless fascination and utility. The watch breaks down your deep and light sleep and offers insights that help you get more consistent, restful sleep. Combined with the physical activity reports, the sleep data lets me draw connections to my overall mood and energy level and I can tweak my routine so I feel 100%, or as close to it as possible, every day.

sleep tracking

Other than for activity and sleep tracking, I use the watch to receive phone notifications since it's distracting to pick up my phone every time it lights up next to me. I'll occasionally use its timer and stopwatch when I work out or cook dinner, its alarm to wake me up every morning, and its weather report.

Compared to those of the Apple Watch and Fitbit smartwatches, the Amazfit Bip's interface isn't as refined or polished, but one big reason why I sing the Amazfit Bip's praises anyways is that it juggles multiple features on a suspiciously strong battery. After five weeks of daily use, it has 33% battery left. Other smartwatches need to be charged every one to three days, but my Amazfit Bip is still going strong. I do have my screen brightness set fairly low, and only choose to receive text notifications, so the exact battery life can vary depending on the combination of your preferences. However, it should still last about 30 days on a single 2.5-hour charge, which is really impressive.

amazfit bip

The watch is available in four colors and offers a variety of watch faces. It has a barely-there feel on your wrist, and the screen is easy to read, even in the bright sunlight. Insider Picks associate editor Brandt Ranj, who also tested the watch and liked its features, found that the silicone band irritated his skin, so if you have more sensitive skin, we would recommend switching out the standard band for a different material.

If you're looking for a reliable smartwatch with a fair amount of customization, and you don't care for the glossy or extraneous features of the bigger brands, you'll be very happy with the Amazfit Bip. It's easy to use, it helps you practice healthier habits, and its long battery life means you have one less device to think about charging all the time. For less than $100, no other smartwatch comes close.

This $30 reusable smart notebook may have gotten rejected on 'Shark Tank' — but I swear by it in my everyday life

$

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase.

Rocketbook 2 (1)

  • Rocketbook is best-known for creating a $30 smart notebook called the Everlast which wipes clean with a damp cloth. You may have seen it on Kickstarter or Shark Tank.
  • By outlining one of the icons printed on each page in pen, you can blast a JPEG or PDF of your handwritten notes to Google Drive, iCloud, messages, Dropbox and more.
  • I've been using the Everlast for a little while now, and I'm surprised by how great the product is. If you're looking for a smart notebook that sends handwritten notes to your devices, this is my personal recommendation based on its price, reliability, and simplicity.

If you're an old soul who prefers pen and paper notes (they're just more personal, you know?), or you just get how obnoxious it is to be the only person clack-clack-clacking away at your laptop in a big meeting, you'll probably be interested in this $30 Kickstarter-funded smart notebook.

Once rejected on Shark Tank, the notebook is made by Rocketbook (the same company that brought you such worldly gifts as microwavable notebooks), and it connects to an app on your phone so you can save your notes easily.

How it works

You can write in the Everlast notebook with the included FriXion pen, take a picture to scan the notes, and seamlessly send either a PDF or JPEG of your writing to a host of destinations (your email, messages, iCloud, Google Docs, Dropbox, and more). Then, once you're done and want a fresh page, you take a wet cloth and wipe it down. Your notes come off, and you can start the process again. There are 36 pages, but some users may find they only regularly touch one to five of them.

ytjjhgj

Why it's a good value

It's a pretty great use of $30. You get access to your notes online without additional typing, get to use something lighter and easier than your laptop to jot things down, and you only need to buy one notebook for $30 to end all future notebook purchases. You don't need to re-up on your Everlast (theoretically), and you'll have digital copies of your notes so you won't find yourself digging through a stack of legal pads in the attic at any point.

How it is in real life

When I heard about the idea of a notebook that lets users wipe down the pages to reuse them, I thought back to high school lab assignments. It seemed like a fun, cool experiment for that would last a couple of days, but not a feature I would bother to use very often. I'm pretty minimal when it comes to day-to-day life, and few gadgets punch through to the everyday.

I was surprised by how much I have used the Everlast, and by how much I really, genuinely like it. I personally prefer the ease and immediacy of handwritten notes, and the post-it notes strewn across my desk can attest to that fact. Since Rocketbook sent the Everlast to our office, I've used it nearly every day, almost like a whiteboard. I write down a to-do list for the day with the day's date at the top, and I cross tasks off as I get to them throughout the day. If I'm feeling ambitious, I'll scan the remaining tasks into an email to do later that night if I leave the notebook at the office. The next day, I wipe the page down and start again. It's taken some of the pressure off of note-taking, and I love that it has become a habit. Writing things down helps me organize my thoughts, and crossing them out incentivizes me in a 'simple joy' kind of way. It's also a much less wasteful way to prefer paper in the 21st century.

How it compares to competitors

I've used more expensive options that digitize notes, and each has their merits (like Moleskine's $200 Smart Writing Set, which actually turns your handwritten notes into text you can copy and paste into documents — a huge help during college lectures that didn't allow laptops), but Rocketbook's $30 Everlast is hard to beat in terms of usability and dependability for cost. Plus, you can reuse it. It's a sustainable purchase that won't require you to shell out $30 more in the future when you run out of pages and have to replace your investment. And for a minimalist like me, I appreciated its simplicity.

It's also easier than expected to use the Everlast's scanning system (just take a picture in the app) and you get to assign each of the seven icons at the bottom of the page to a specific destination (the diamond can be emails, the apple can be iCloud, and so on). When you want to email your notes rather than send them to iCloud, just outline the assigned email icon with pen. When you scan, the app will understand the command. If you outline more than one, the Everlast app will send it to both destinations.

27894473_175140513122509_2714555507305086976_n

Cons to the Everlast smart notebook

Having said all that, it's worth noting that you're only supposed to use specific pens in the notebook, which is always an added inconvenience. I haven't lost the FriXion pen that comes with the Everlast purchase yet, so this hasn't impacted me, but it is something to consider. Replacement pens are about 7 for $11 on Amazon. Just to be sure, I did a test with a Bic pen, and you really are better off using the recommended styles that wipe away; any other pen is there to stay.

However, the pens do work particularly well — the paper is smoother than average, and even though they sort of "glide" across it, I never noticed any smudging when my hand rested against past notes. After the designated 15 seconds, the ink dries and stays put until wiped away with a damp cloth.

Final thoughts

All in all, the Everlast is a really useful tool if spending $30 for a reusable smart notebook makes sense to you. It saves you money on future notebooks, sends scans of your notes to your devices, and wipes down for easy and immediate reuse. I already prefer handwritten notes, but I'm surprised by how easy and helpful using this notebook has been. If you're looking for a new office or school tool, the Everlast is a really solid option.

6 expensive things that are totally worth the money

Money

  • Money priorities differ from person to person, depending on what you value.
  • There are some things, like a college education, that cost a lot of money but can give you a great return on investment through your salary later on.
  • Here are six pricey things, from a financial expert, that are well worth the money.

We all like to be — or at the very least try to be — smart with our money. But that doesn’t always mean choosing the least expensive option. In fact, sometimes the pricier item or experience can be the one that is most worth your hard-earned cash, while the cheapest can be the biggest waste.

“Most of us spend money on things we don't really care about at the expense of the things we do without even realizing it,” Stefanie O’Connell, financial expert and author of “The Broke and Beautiful Life,” told Business Insider. “So step one is defining your priorities, then tracking your spending (an app or a simple pen and paper works) to see if you're actually spending in alignment with those priorities, and making adjustments as needed.”

You should also weigh the added value something can bring to your life. “Before spending a lot of money on an item or service, it may be good to understand what value it brings to you,” Roger Ma, certified financial planner and founder of Life Laid Out, told Business Insider. “Does it help you save time or help you avoid doing something you don't enjoy, does it make you feel more confident, or will the experience be something you remember for a long time?”

Here are six expensive things, from financial experts Ma and O’Connell, that are completely worth the money.

SEE ALSO: 5 things you may be wasting your money on

1. Education

About 70% of students graduate from college with student loan debt, and there have been plenty of debates on whether getting a higher education is even worth it. Despite this, Ma said that education is most definitely worth spending money on.

An investment in yourself is typically worth it,” Ma said. “Increasing your knowledge could ultimately increase your human capital — that is, how much money you're able to command from your employer. Besides, learning new material keeps life interesting and exciting.”

2. Travel

Travel can be good for your body and your overall well-being, NBC reports. O’Connell said that it’s something she spends money on herself. “I love to splurge on travel because it brings me joy,” O’Connell said.

As Business Insider previously reported, people are happier when they spend their money on experiences rather than things.

3. A mattress

Sleep is essential to good health, according to the National Institute of Health. It only makes sense to invest in a mattress that provides optimal comfort, even if we can’t get the suggested seven to nine hours nightly.

“We spend 5-8 hours a night on our mattress, depending on our sleeping patterns. Getting a good night's rest affects every other part of our life,” Ma said. “If we don't get a good night's rest, we won't be productive at work, may not get that promotion, and may just feel like crap. A good mattress is good for your health and will pay for itself in the long run.”

Jeff Bezos MacKenzie Bezos

Amazon CEO and founder Jeff Bezos announced in a tweet Wednesday that he and his wife, MacKenzie Bezos, were getting a divorce after 25 years of marriage.

"As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends," the couple said in a statement posted on Jeff Bezos' Twitter account.

"If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again," the statement continued.

MacKenzie Bezos was one of Amazon's first employees. The couple met at D.E. Shaw, a hedge fund and technology development firm, before Jeff Bezos founded Amazon. They have four kids.

In Amazon lore, part of the company's business plan was written while the Bezoses drove across the country from New York to Seattle.

MacKenzie Bezos is a novelist, and she has written books including "The Testing of Luther Albright" and "Traps."

She previously told Vogue that the couple's contrasting personalities complemented each other. "He likes to meet people," she said. "He's a very social guy. Cocktail parties for me can be nerve-racking. The brevity of conversations, the number of them — it's not my sweet spot."

Today, Jeff Bezos is worth over $137 billion, according to Bloomberg, making him the richest person in the world

Here's the full statement:

Here's the statement in plain text:

"We want to make people aware of a development in our lives. As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends. We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again. mejuri engagement wedding ring main

The practical romantic in me has to wonder, do I really want someone spending thousands of dollars on an engagement ring that's excessively flashy, expensive, and not something I'd realistically want to wear every day? It's an easy no from me, but it does seem to be the option many feel compelled to follow simply because everyone else is doing it and there aren't many accessible choices otherwise.

Canadian jewelry startup Mejuri is now stepping in with its own interpretation of engagement rings and wedding bands to save couples from wasting money on pieces that don't fit their personality or style. The collection features various cuts, asymmetrical settings, pretty gemstones, and a new half-sizing convention, all to emphasize a "non-typical" approach that has always characterized the online company

The engagement rings range from $650 for a pear cut, peach morganite and diamond ring to $1,350 for a round cut, blue sapphire and diamond ring, while wedding bands range from just $195 for a solid yellow or white gold band to $975 for a diamond-encrusted band. The rings and bands pair beautifully together, whether you balance out a more complex design with a simple band or play off the sparkle of a ring by introducing additional diamonds on the band.

They're made with high-quality, long-lasting materials, including 14k solid gold, Gemological Institute of America-graded gemstones, and conflict-free diamonds. The made-to-order rings can be engraved with up to 30 characters to make them feel more personal and truly one-of-a-kind.

Mejuri also offers 45-minute sessions with a stylist at its Toronto showroom or remotely via video chat, who can give in-depth advice and ring sizing in a private, low-pressure environment.

If the choices at cookie-cutter jewelry chains overwhelm you or inspire disappointment rather than excitement, Mejuri's new engagement and wedding rings will remind you there are unique and affordable alternatives out there.

President Donald Trump speaks from the Oval Office of the White House as he gives a prime time address about border security on Tuesday.

  • President Donald Trump discussed border security in a televised address to the nation from the Oval Office on Tuesday night.
  • The betting website BookMaker.eu had people wager on how many times Trump would lie during the speech, using The Washington Post's Fact Checker blog as the judge.
  • By the end of the speech, The Post's fact checkers had corrected six of Trump's statements.
  • Because the gambling site had so many people betting that Trump would tell more than 3.5 lies, it will have to pay out $276,424, an odds consultant told BuzzFeed News.

People who bet that President Donald Trump would tell more than 3.5 lies during his Oval Office address on Tuesday night will win a total of $276,424, BuzzFeed News reported.

The betting website BookMaker.eu offered users the chance to gamble on how many lies Trump would tell during his speech, using The Washington Post's fact-checking live blog as the judge of the president's truthfulness.

Fact checkers for The Post's live blog corrected six of Trump's statements about immigration and the US-Mexico border during his speech.

BookMaker.eu offered odds of -145 for more than 3.5 lies and +115 for fewer than 3.5 lies, meaning that if a person bet $145 on Trump telling four or more lies, they would win an additional $100, BuzzFeed News reported.

The maximum wager was set at $2,000, though the biggest bets on Trump lying were $25,000, $20,000, and $15,000, John Lester, an odds consultant, told BuzzFeed News.

Lester said that 92% of bettors wagered that Trump would tell more than 3.5 lies and that BookMaker.eu would have to pay out $276,424.

"It's a bad day for Truthiness and Bookmaker," he told BuzzFeed News. "We knew we were in trouble early with this one."

Among other falsehoods, Trump said in his speech that there was a new crisis at the US-Mexico border, wrongly accused Democrats of refusing to pay for border security, and inaccurately described how most heroin come into the United States.

  • Today, Jeff Bezos is worth $137 billion, making him the richest person in history.

Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder and CEO of online retail giant Amazon, announced Wednesday that he and his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie, will divorce.

"As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends," the couple wrote in the statement issued via Twitter.

The best men's yoga pants you can buy

$

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase.

best mens yoga pants

  • Yoga pants should be comfortable, stretchy, and durable enough to support you in your practice without distracting you during vinyasa.
  • Our top pick, the prAna Men's Sutra Pants, have a loose, comfy fit and are made of an environmentally-friendly hemp fabric.

Shopping for yoga pants is a bit of a mystery, isn't it? I mean, what makes bottoms marketed as "yoga pants" any better than an old pair of ratty sweatpants you've had since college? Do you really need to spend a bunch of cash on a specific style?

While you can technically go to yoga sessions in just about anything comfortable enough to do downward dog in, if you're developing a regular practice, you'll probably be happier in pants actually designed for the discipline.

That doesn't have to mean dropping a ton of money or springing for anything super fancy, but it's a great idea to pay attention to fit, fabric, insulation, and length while thinking about pants to buy specifically for yoga class.

Yoga is different from many other forms of exercise in that it focuses on flexibility and individuality, so you need clothes that will really move with you.

Below is a list of the best men's yoga pants that money can buy. Some are pricier than others, but they all have one thing in common — they're comfortable with loads of stretch (but not too much stretch).

Here are the best men's yoga pants you can buy:

Read on in the slides below to check out our top picks.

The best men's yoga pants overall

Why you'll love them: The Men's Sutra Pants by prAna are comfortable, sustainable, and breathable.

If you prefer a pair of loose, breathable yoga pants, you can't go wrong with the prAna Sutra Pants. The wide-legged silhouette will give you plenty of wiggle room without causing you to trip over the cuffs when you're trying to step into a forward fold.

These pants are made from sustainable materials including hemp, recycled polyester blend, and a little bit of spandex for some very necessary stretch. Other details include front and back pockets, drawstring waist, and "natural odor reducing features." The fit is airy and loose, ideal for the guy who can't stand to leave his college sweatpants behind completely.

Faveable also named the Sutra pants "Best men's yoga pants overall," in part because they are versatile enough to use for other workouts and even non-exercise activities  — seriously, they're that attractive. The pants have a 4.1 star rating on Amazon based on 170+ reviews and 4.7 rating on the prAna website based on 250+ reviews.

"The big plus is that they look great outside of practice," writes one reviewer. "The crotch seam is actually sewn together to give a good shape to the tushie area while giving a bit of room underneath for deep stretches (warrior 2 and crescent lunge no problem) and giving ample crotch room so you aren't exposing yourself to the entire world."

Pros: Sustainable fabric, loose fit, breathable material, odor-reducing, three pockets

Cons: Some reviewers say the pockets are small

Buy the prAna Sutra Pants on Amazon for $52 and up (price varies by color)

The best compression yoga pants for men

Why you'll love them: Sub Sports Men's Compression Leggings are ideal for someone who likes a tight fit, while four-way stretch makes them flexible enough for yoga.

On the opposite end of the spectrum we have the Sub Sports Men's Compression Leggings. This is a great pick for people who like a much tighter fit.

They are snug but have 4-way stretch that gives you the flexibility and breathability you need to execute complicated yoga poses. The fabric is moisture-wicking and utilizes flat lock seams so you don't experience chafing despite the snug cut.

Sub Sports were named "best men's leggings for yoga" on Faveable due to the balance they strike between compression and mobility. This pair has 420 reviews on Amazon and an overall 4.4 star rating.

83% of shoppers found them true to size, though the product description recommends sizing up if you want a slightly less compression on the legs and waist.

Pros: 4-way stretch, moisture wicking, true-to-size, flat lock seams to minimize chafing

Cons: might feel too tight if you're not used to compression clothing

Buy the Sub Sports Men's Compression Leggings on Amazon for $20 and up (price varies by color)

The best sustainable yoga pants for men

Why you'll love them: The prAna Vaha Pants are made of sustainable materials in a soft, relaxed silhouette that's comfy enough to sleep in.

For the sustainable shopper, we have the prAna Vaha Pants. Like all of the brand's offerings, this pant is made of a hemp, recycled polyester, and spandex blend that's both eco-friendly and cozy to wear.

These might be comfortable enough to sleep in, but they look a lot nicer than your average pajama bottoms, with a nice color selection of muted tones, a subtle back pocket and a knitted elastic waist.

The look is similar to the other prAna brand pants we featured as our top pick, but a little bit more streamlined — great if you want to subtly wear them to brunch after your Saturday morning vinyasa.

The pants are available in size small to extra large with a 30-inch inseam. We do wish they came in a wider size range and some different lengths, but it's worth noting that the waist does have some give thanks to the elastic.

Best Products and VeryWell have both featured the prAna Vaha as a top yoga pant pick and this style has a 4.5 star rating on REI.

Amazon Jeff Bezos wife MacKenzie Bezos

When Jeff Bezos told his wife MacKenzie about his idea for a new company, she was immediately on board.

Bezos traveled with her husband to Seattle, where she worked for the fledgling Amazon as an accountant.

The move was a bit of a departure for the Princeton grad, who had long dreamed of becoming a writer. But she was eager to support her husband.

"To me, watching your spouse, somebody that you love, have an adventure — what is better than that?" MacKenzie said during an interview with CBS.

Since the early days of Amazon, Bezos has gone on to pursue her literary dreams, publishing two novels, "The Testing of Luther Albright" in 2005 and "Traps" in 2013.

The couple announced their plans to divorce on Wednesday.

"We've had such a great life together as a married couple, and we also see wonderful futures ahead, as parents, friends, partners in ventures and projects, and as individuals pursuing ventures and adventures," the Bezoses said in a joint statement posted on Twitter

The rise of Jeff Bezos, who built Amazon into a $1 trillion company and became the richest person in modern history (AMZN)

Jeff Bezos

It's been an eventful last year for Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.

On Wednesday, Bezos announced that he and his wife of 25 years, novelist MacKenzie Bezos, were divorcing.

In July, Bezos reached a new milestone: his net worth hit $150 billion, making him, as Bloomberg put it, the richest person in modern history.

In September, Amazon hit a new milestone: Amazon briefly became the second US company to achieve a valuation of more than $1 trillion— though its market cap has since sunk under that threshhold.

That success hasn't come overnight, however. Bezos began his career in the hedge fund world in the 90s, then left a cushy job to launch his own startup.

Here's how Bezos got his start, and built one of the largest tech companies in the world.

  • Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the world, announced today that he's getting divorced.
  • Amazon became the second US company to reach the $1 trillion mark in August 2018.
  • The tech mogul's daily routine indicates that he's not addicted to work.
  • Bezos prioritizes lots of family time, and even time allotted for washing the dishes.

Jeff Bezos, the richest person in history, announced on Wednesday that he and his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Bezos, are getting a divorce.

"As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends," the couple wrote in the statement.

According to Bloomberg, the Amazon founder and CEO has $137 billion to his name. In addition to founding the online retail behemoth Amazon, Bezos also owns The Washington Post and an aerospace company, Blue Origin.

Amazon also recently became the second US company to join the $1 trillion valuation club, according to Markets Insider. Apple was the first ever US company to receive that distinction. Amazon's market cap has since dipped to $791 billion.

The best facial sunscreens you can buy

$

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase.

the best facial sunscreens

  • Yes, you really should be wearing sunscreen daily — even in the winter or when it's cloudy — to protect your skin from short- and long-term UV damage.
  • La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 is the best face sunscreen because it's a broad spectrum sunscreen that's as comfortable to wear as it is good for your skin.

I don't think you need me to go into all the possible annoyances when it comes to wearing sunscreen, especially on your face. A lot of formulas are seriously lacking in the comfort and "ease of use" departments. And yet, you really should be wearing it every single day, regardless of season or level of cloud cover. Ain't no rest for the wicked, or for UV rays.

But from pilling to white cast to that heavy, oil-slicked feeling, there are plenty of reasons why you might hesitate to reach for your bottle in the morning. Let's face it — there are some dud sunscreens, but there are also great options to be found once you know where to look. The trial-and-error is well worth it, I promise.

After all, we're not just talking anti-aging here — sunscreen use is vital for cancer prevention and your overall long-term health. Whether you prefer physical or chemical formulations, you can find the sunscreen that's right for you. The picks in our guide work for a variety of skin types, complexions, and lifestyles.

Here are the best face sunscreens you can buy:

Read on in the slides below to check out our top picks.

The best face sunscreen overall

Why you'll love it: La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 is a physical sunscreen that protects from UVA/UVB rays and free radicals without making you look pale and shiny.

Physical sunscreens — formulas that block UV rays by forming a sort of shield over the skin — can be really uncomfortable. Many of them feel heavy, pill up when you try to rub them in or apply makeup on top, or give the skin, especially darker complexions, a strange white cast.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 delivers the UVA/UVB and free radical protection you can expect from physical sunscreens without the negative side effects. The formula contains 6% titanium dioxide and 5% zinc oxide to shield the skin from sun damage and an antioxidant complex called senna alata to protect from environmental damage.

This sunscreen comes in a lightly tinted version or a non-tinted version. The tint will prevent white cast and flashback in photos, but it's not a foundation. There's not really any coverage. You can apply other complexion products over the top, so you don't have to worry too much about color-matching. The tint is really there to make it easier to wear if you have a medium to deep skin tone. If you opt for the non-tinted, you'll get more of a traditional white liquid sunscreen formula that absorbs easily into the skin.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios sunscreens are popular with both shoppers and experts. This one in particular has over 970 Amazon reviews and has been recommended by Refinery29 Senior Beauty Editor Lexy Lebsack. She writes, "It's incredibly light and soaks in immediately, but it's also hydrating enough to take the place of my morning moisturizer."

The brand's sunscreens have recently been recommended by The Strategist, Allure, Health, Elle, and Redbook.

Pros: Tinted and non-tinted, protects from UVA/UVB rays and free radicals, water resistant up to 40 minutes, safe for sensitive skin

Cons: Pricey

Buy La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 on Amazon for $33.50

The best face sunscreen for moisturizing

Why you'll love it: Got dry skin? Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 effectively pulls double-duty as a moisturizer and sun-protector.

The Neutrogena Hydro Boost collection is one of my favorite makeup and skincare ranges, period. All of the offerings I've tried, from the concealer to the water gel moisturizer, are spectacular, and the Hydro Boost Gel Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 really stands out.

It's a lightweight, hydrating sunscreen that comes out of the tube blue and goes onto the skin completely clear. Like all of the other Hydro Boost products, this one gets its minimally greasy moisturizing qualities from hyaluronic acid. It is a chemical sunscreen, though, so keep that in mind.

I love how quickly this quenches dry patches and sinks into the skin. It also sits beautifully under makeup, though you do need to give it a few minutes to set. Otherwise it might ball up when you try to apply cream products over the top.

Overall this is a wonderful chemical SPF for both day-to-day and outdoor use. I find that it doubles as a moisturizer, despite not being advertised as such, and leaves my skin plump, dewy, and fresh.

"I've spent forever looking for an spf that doesn't leave me looking casket ready - this one leaves NO white caste [sic] on my skin, doesn't feel like it weighs my skin down, and doesn't irritate my eyes despite the scent. I can't recommend it enough," says one 5-star Target review.

The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion comes recommended by Allure, Redbook, Cosmopolitan, and Fashionista.

Pros: Lightweight texture, doubles as moisturizer, comes in SPF 50 and 30, affordable price

Cons: Might be too dewy for oily skin, has a strong scent

Buy Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 at Target for $10.99

The best tinted face sunscreen

Why you'll love it: Banish white cast with the lightly tinted, mattifying SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50 sunscreen fluid.

Tinted sunscreen is another long-awaited answer to the dreaded white cast. My personal favorite is the SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50. Make no mistake, this is not a hydrating SPF. You definitely need a separate moisturize underneath. But the texture is liquidy and lightweight and layers beautifully over skincare and under makeup.

I'm skeptical of anything that claims to be a universal tint because, well, people obviously don't have one universal skin tone. But this one is so sheer that it's the rare exception. The tint basically becomes invisible as I blend it in, with the nice bonus of diminishing any redness on my cheeks. For darker complexions it eliminates the issue of leftover white cast you get with many sunscreens (especially zinc formulas).

This is also the only physical sunscreen I've tried that does not pill up at all while I'm rubbing it in or using my fingers to apply creamy products. It dries relatively matte and totally seamless. The 1.7 ounce bottle is compact and durable, perfect for travel, and there's a 4.2 ounce size for true die-hards.

Experts at Refinery 29 and product review site Beautypedia also love this stuff and it has a 5 out of 5 rating on Dermstore, based on 100+ reviews. "My main concern which others I've used previously was that they were thick, oily, and white," writes one shopper. "I love that this one is sheer and tinted. It's light and evens out my skin, so much that I even use it as a CC/BB cream."

Pros: Lightweight, mattifying, water resistant for up to 40 minutes, fragrance-free

Cons: Pricey

Buy SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50 from Dermstore for $34

The best women's workout clothes you can buy

The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase.

best workout clothes women

  • With the right clothes, you’ll actually want to get to the gym and show off your style before meeting friends for a much-deserved drink afterward.
  • Sweaty Betty makes our favorite workout gear for women that’s as functional as it is fashion-forward.

Faking it until you make it becomes a lot easier when you look the part. So when it comes to feigning enjoyment at the gym, you’re going to need some gear to get yourself in character. Luckily, there are plenty of options these days to help you look as though you’re ready for the toughest kickboxing session, because who better to motivate you than the person staring back at you in the mirror?

One of our favorite aspects of today’s workout gear for women is that it’s no longer relegated to the spinning studio or the weight room. Rather, some of our favorite options will take you from barre class to the neighborhood bar, and have the technology to ensure that you don’t have to worry about sweat stains or smells when you make that transition. With moisture-wicking fabric, cleverly-placed mesh panels, and thoughtful cut-outs, much of today’s athletic clothing is truly meant for athletic pursuits. It’s a far cry from our days of grabbing the oldest shirt in our closet, cutting off the sleeves, and calling it a top.

When it comes to figuring out what workout gear will best suit your needs, listen to your body. After all, it’ll be your primary tool during your workouts, so if you’re uncomfortable in any way, everything else is moot. You’ll also want to consider the type of workout you’re most likely to engage in. If you prefer running to yoga, you’ll be in need of different support.

You’ll also want to keep durability in mind. You’re not only putting your workout gear through the ringer at the gym, but you’re also going to be putting it through the laundry quite a few times. So even if you’re able to save a few dollars on the initial purpose by buying something that’s a bit flimsier, you’ll have to exercise your credit card again when you find your gear starting to rip after a few cycles.

Finally, of course, price comes into consideration. Given that most workout gear doubles as everyday attire these days, you can (to some extent) think of these pieces as serving two purposes for the price of one. That said, there are some options that are more costly than others, so your budget may be a determining factor.

Here are the best workout clothes for women:

  • Best workout clothes overall: Sweaty Betty
  • Best workout clothes that you can wear all day: ADAY
  • Best high-end workout clothes: Live the Process
  • Best beachy workout clothes: Vuori
  • Best comfortable workout clothes: Bandier

The best workout clothes overall

Why you'll love it: Sweaty Betty makes workout gear that can withstand a tough time at the gym and take you out into society without breaking a sweat.

Much of today’s workout gear seems so focused on taking you seamlessly from barre to the bar that it forgets its primary function — being functional during your workout. But that is certainly not the case with Sweaty Betty.

As this brand’s name suggests, you’ll be able to perspire in these workout clothes without getting uncomfortable, and more importantly, you’ll feel supported throughout your time at the gym.

Sweaty Betty’s Zero Gravity leggings are made of ultra-lightweight Italian fabric, which is both sweat-wicking and quick drying for even your most intense sessions. Plus, the leggings are muscle-compressing to help you get even more out of your workout. They’re great for just about any type of exercise, whether you prefer to spend your time spinning or doing a HIIT class.

And while all those squats will certainly help shape your bum, so too will these leggings. A super satisfied customer gave a five-star review, commending the “very flattering” print and the pocket that is perfect for holding your smartphone during your run.

When paired with the High-Intensity Run Bra, you’ll feel prepared to spend your whole day actively. The high support sports bra features sweat-wicking fabric, and more importantly, extremely comfortable soft padded straps that won’t bite into sensitive skin. While some “sports” bras seem suitable only for rather anaerobic activities, the High Intensity Run Bra was designed for running and HIIT workouts. Popsugar also calls this bra one of the best for women with larger busts.

Both pieces are sleek and stylish but don’t sacrifice their usefulness for the sake of aesthetics. Sweaty Betty also makes our favorite running tights for the gym and many other great leggings and sport bras.

Pros: Quick drying material, snug fit, great for any type of workout

Cons: Some customers found that the High Intensity Run Bra does not provide enough side coverage

The best workout clothes that fit in at the office

Why you'll love it: Workout clothes from ADAY look just as appropriate for the office as they do for your morning yoga session.

If you don’t want to carry around three outfits for before, during, and after the gym, ADAY may be the solution for you. The Smoke It Up Bra and Crop And Roll Leggings can be worn in just about any scenario.

ADAY is all about simplicity and seeks to create fabrics and clothing that are multipurpose, long-lasting, and sustainable. The Crop And Roll are the best if you’re looking for something to take to your workout. Made of material that is quick drying, sweating wicking, sun cream and oil resistant, these leggings also feature an elastic waistband with an adjuster that can make the fit tighter or looser.

Thanks to the slightly cropped length, you won’t feel encumbered as you run, duck, and jump. But once you’re done at the gym, simply pair these leggings with a nice pair of pumps, and they’ll be ready for the office. With details like the gunmetal snaps, these leggings are just as much a statement piece as they are sweat-appropriate.

The Today Show called ADAY leggings “trendy” but “incredibly functional,” while Refinery 29 said simply, “straight up, they look really good.”

The Smoke It Up Bra is made of an Italian fabric that wicks moisture, and also features mesh panels for extra breathability. If you always find yourself dabbing at your cleavage, this may be the choice for you. I’m particularly taken by the A-shaped cutout in the back — not only does it help alleviate heat buildup, but it’s also an attractive design detail.

Really, this is one sports bra you wouldn’t mind to have peeking through your shirt. As Huffington Post noted, this bra’s “fashionable back details ... make it perfect for layering under regular clothes.”

Pros: Comfortable, versatile, with many neutral color options for a wide range of occasions

Cons: The Smoke It Up Bra only offers medium support

The best workout gear for the ethical yogi

Why you'll love it: Live the Process’ workout gear is not only comfortable, but it’s eco-friendly, too.

Live the Process produces simple, beautiful clothes that just might kickstart your entire wellness journey. Founded by a certified yoga instructor, Live the Process isn’t so much a clothing store as it is a wellness brand.

Despite its relatively new status on the scene (it launched just a few years ago in 2014), it’s already a mainstay in a number of retailers across the country (and the web), including Barney’s and Net-a-Porter.

All of Live the Process’ pieces are ethically produced in the United States, and the company promises to employ careful practices throughout the supply chain to reduce its environmental impact, including using recycled (and recyclable) packaging and carbon-neutral shipping. So not only will you look and feel good in your workout clothes, but you’ll feel good about yourself, too.

Live the Process’ Bra is a classic and classy answer to the traditional sports bra, providing full coverage across both your chest and your back.

The leggings are certainly great to wear to the gym, but you’ll also want to wear them all day long. Indeed, founder Robyn Berkley told the Observer, all of Live the Process’ clothes are meant to “make you feel beautiful and motivated,” not distract you with unnecessary bells and whistles.

Customers have sung the praises of the wellness brand as well, particularly calling out the “very good quality” of the bra and leggings’ material, which has four-way stretch, is breathable, moisture wicking, and water and wind repellent.

Pros: Simple, clean lines with straightforward design and serious comfort

Cons: These are pricey articles of clothing, even if you are looking to go from the gym to the office

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos announced on Wednesday that he and his wife MacKenzie were divorcing, immediately fueling speculation about the details of their divorce settlement.

Bezos, with a net worth of $137 billion, is the richest person in the world, and some experts have mused whether his divorce could become the most expensive of all time.

Although no details of a Bezos settlement have been revealed, the tech mogul may end up on the long list of celebrities who have been on the wrong end of a costly divorce settlement, which includes Paul McCartney, Madonna, Tiger Woods, and even President Donald Trump.

Each of those settlements was worth tens of millions of dollars, but they pale in comparison to the most expensive divorce settlements of all time.

That dubious list is reserved for settlements worth hundreds of millions of dollars — and in a few eye-popping cases, $1 billion or more.

Read on to see the most expensive divorce settlements of all time:
