Chase's Sapphire Reserve credit card has a high annual fee — but here's why it's worth it

  • The Chase Sapphire Reserve is an incredibly popular credit card, especially considering that it has a high annual fee.
  • The card comes with tons of travel perks, earns rewards quickly on your normal everyday spending, and offers a big sign-up bonus.
  • Here are the benefits that get you way more value than the annual fee costs.

When Chase launched its Sapphire Reserve credit card in 2016, it got the kind of hype you'd normally see for the newest iPhone. In fact, it was almost pandemonium, made all the more impressive by the fact that Chase didn't make any traditional marketing efforts. Instead, awareness of the card spread through word of mouth, blog posts, and news reports leading up to its launch.

Part of the buzz was the incredible 100,000 points that Chase offered as a sign-up bonus when approved applicants spent $4,000 within the first three months of card membership. Those points were worth anywhere from $1,000 - $1,500, or even more if you were savvy about transferring them to frequent flyer partners. However, that huge bonus was only available for a limited time — it's since dropped to 50,000 points.

Even with the lower bonus, though, the Sapphire Reserve is an extremely valuable card. Although it carries a $450 annual fee, which is the standard range for premium credit cards, it comes with a ton of benefits, perks, and rewards that are worth way more than that fee. Take a look below at some of the best features.

Sign-up bonus

The Chase Sapphire Reserve offers a sign-up bonus of 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $4,000 in the first three months. That's a solid bonus — based on travel website The Points Guy's subjective valuations, Chase points are worth 2 cents apiece, so 50,000 gets you $1,000 in value — but the Sapphire Reserve's sibling, the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, actually offers a higher bonus. With that card, you can earn 60,000 points after you spend $4,000 in the first three months.

Of course, sign-up bonus is only one factor to consider about a credit card, and the Sapphire Reserve is more rewarding for travel and dining purchases, and offers more benefits overall.

Points earning on the Sapphire Reserve

The Chase Sapphire Reserve is a popular choice for dining and travel thanks to its strong earning rates on this spending. It has the following bonus categories and earning rates:

  • 3 points per dollar on dining — which includes everything from delivery services like Seamless to restaurants around the world to some bars
  • 3 points on travel — which includes airfare, parking fees, tolls, hotels, subway fare, cruises, and many other purchases

You'll earn 1 point per dollar on everything else with the Sapphire Reserve.

Using Chase Ultimate Rewards points

The Chase Sapphire Reserve earns Ultimate Rewards (UR) points — this is the points currency of Chase's in-house rewards program.

Ultimate Rewards points can be exchanged for cash back, gift cards, or statement credits, with each point worth 1 cent. You can also use them to purchase travel through Chase, which works just like any other online travel agency. When you use points that way, you get a 50% bonus — in other words, each point will be worth 1.5 cents instead. Finally, you can transfer points to Chase's airline and hotel partners' loyalty programs — transferring points is generally the most valuable way to use them.

The Sapphire Reserve's 50,000-point sign-up bonus is worth $500 as cash back, $750 for travel purchased through Chase, or more if you transfer the points to an airline or hotel program.

Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits

$300 travel credit

Each cardmember year (meaning every 12 months starting the month you open the card), the Sapphire Reserve offers a $300 credit toward travel purchases. The credit will be applied to the first $300 worth of purchases you make that year in the travel category, including things like subways, taxis/ridesharing, and parking, as well as hotels, airfare, and cruises.

When you subtract the travel credit, the Chase Sapphire Reserve's annual fee is effectively just $150.

Airport lounge access

Having access to airport lounges is one of my favorite perks of the Sapphire Reserve. Lounges are comfortable, relaxing, and exclusive areas where you can enjoy comfortable seats, an internet connection, food and drinks — often complimentary — and sometimes other amenities.

The Sapphire Reserve comes with a Priority Pass Select membership. Priority Pass is a network of more than 1,000 airport lounges around the world, any of which you and your travel companions can access for free when you have your membership card.

With the Priority Pass membership provided by the Sapphire Reserve, you can bring in two guests. So whether you're traveling alone or with your family, you can enjoy free snacks, drinks, newspapers and magazines, showers, and more, all separate from the hustle and bustle of the main terminal.

Aspire Lounge Heathrow LHR

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck

TSA PreCheck and Global Entry (which comes with PreCheck) are absolute musts for just about any traveler. Once you enroll, you can use special lanes to breeze through airport security — you won't have to remove shoes and light coats, and you can leave your laptop in your bag. With Global Entry, you can use a fast lane when you return to the US from abroad, which makes clearing immigration and customs easy and quick. The programs cost $85 to $100, and Chase will provide a credit for that fee every four years (memberships are valid for five years).

Primary rental car insurance and rental elite status

The Sapphire Reserve offers a primary auto rental collision damage waiver, or free loss and damage coverage when you use the card to pay for a rental car. Just decline the collision/damage/loss coverage offered by the rental agency. Keep in mind you may still want to opt for the rental company's liability insurance.

When you have the Sapphire Reserve, you can also get complimentary elite status with Avis, National, and Silvercar rental agencies. The benefits vary a bit between the companies, but generally include a car class upgrade, easy pick-up/drop-off, and more.

Other benefits

The Sapphire Reserve comes with a handful of other benefits, including various travel and purchase protections.

In my opinion, one of the most useful is trip and baggage delay insurance. When you're traveling and you're delayed for at least six hours, or overnight, you're covered for up to $500 of incidentals per person traveling with you whose ticket was purchased with the card. That covers things like hotel accommodations, meals, toiletries, and a change of clothing — really, anything that can be considered a "reasonable" expense.

Similarly, if your baggage is delayed, things like clothing and toiletries are covered up to a certain amount until your bag is delivered.

Other protections include travel accident insurance, trip cancellation/interruption insurance, extended warranty, and return protection.

Bottom Line

While the Chase Sapphire Reserve doesn't offer the same sign-up bonus as when it launched, it's still an incredibly valuable card, offering benefits that more than outweigh its $450 annual fee.

Best books so far 2019 4x3

  • Amazon's customer reviews are one of the features that make the site so valuable.
  • This is particularly true of books — reviews let you save money, space, and time by getting the gist of how good they are upfront.
  • Below, you'll find the top 20 customer-reviewed books of all time on Amazon.

Customer reviews are one of Amazon's most valuable features. Before ever actually paying for a product — be it a $300 RoboVac or a $13 all-natural cleaner— we have access to sometimes thousands of reviews telling us how something will perform once we're holding that something in our hands.

Like other customer-review platforms such as Yelp and Goodreads, the best thing about them is that they help us maximize limited time. Instead of thousands of us relearning the same lesson, we share our knowledge to steer people to the best choice the first time around: "These shoes run small, order a half size up."

The same advantage applies to books. Why give $10 to a book you won't finish reading? Or, worse, devote 15 hours of your life to a book that left thousands dissatisfied with a nonsensical cliffhanger? Not every review will interpret a creative tome the same way you would have, but that's why a high volume of reviews is useful.

Below, you'll find the 20 most-reviewed books of all time on Amazon. Of all the books the site stocks, these are the ones that provoked the most people to sit down and write a review for the benefit of future would-be readers.

The nearly 70,000 fans who paid $50 each to watch YouTube's bonafide royal couple get married this weekend may be able to get refunded for the shoddy viewing experience.

TMZ reports that Google and Apple are issuing refunds to some of the disappointed fans who made shelled out money on livestreaming app Halogen TV to get a glimpse of the wedding between YouTubers Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul. Nearly 70,000 fans paid $50 a piece to watch, meaning the livestream brought it more than $3.3 million.

Since Sunday, many viewers have turned to social media to complain about the livestream's poor quality. People criticized the stream for being laggy, freezing frequently, and having shoddy audio. Additionally, the ceremony itself started four hours late and only lasted for about 10 minutes.

Halogen, the livestreaming platform, did not respond to Business Insider's comment about whether customers are getting refunded, but did comment on the complaints about the livestream.

"Sometimes onsite technical issues with third-party production providers used by creators can cause fans to experience issues while viewing streams," Halogen said in a statement. "We will continue to work with the creator community to improve the quality of their productions."

Neither Google nor Apple has responded to Business Insider about whether customers are getting refunds, but a screenshot from TMZ shows a customer getting refunded $73.49 for purchasing virtual coins through Halogen needed to view the livestream. Halogen livestreams can also be watched on the web on a computer, so it's unclear whether people who watched on the web would qualify for refunds too.

Meanwhile, the wedding itself was expectedly eventful. The $500,000 wedding took place in Vegas, with the ceremony at a mansion graffitied for the occasion and the reception at the restaurant Sugar Factory. Photos of the wedding show Paul, Mongeau and their friends flying in on a private jet, a brawl breaking out seconds after the couple was pronounced husband and wife, and Paul cutting the wedding cake with a Game of Thrones-replica sword.

How to find out if your data was stolen in the Capital One hack, and what you can do about it (COF)

$

capital one

Capital One revealed a major data breach on Monday afternoon.

Over 100 million people had their personal information taken, ranging from Social Security to bank account numbers and names. If you applied for a Capital One credit card at any point "from 2005 through early 2019, there's a good chance you've been affected.

But how to find out for sure? Here's what we've got so far:

SEE ALSO: Capital One says it was hit with data breach, affecting tens of millions of credit card applications

First and foremost, here's a comprehensive list of what Capital One says was lost in the data breach:

According to Capital One, the breach "affected approximately 100 million individuals in the United States and approximately 6 million in Canada." Moreover, the primary targets of the hack were, "consumers and small businesses as of the time they applied for one of our credit card products from 2005 through early 2019."

More plainly, that means if you applied for a Capital One credit card at any point in the 14 years between 2005 and 2019, you are likely an impacted party.

What data was taken in those instances? "Names, addresses, zip codes/postal codes, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, and self-reported income."

And that's not all: "About 140,000 Social Security numbers" from credit card customers were taken, "about 80,000 linked bank account numbers" from secured credit card customers, and a whopping 1 million Social Insurance Numbers were stolen from Canadian credit card customers.

It is, in short, a huge mess.

So, how to know if you've been impacted? There's a few things to do. 1. Wait patiently for Capital One to tell you whether or not you've been impacted by the data breach.

After announcing the data breach on Monday, Capital One said it would, "notify affected individuals through a variety of channels."

Moreover, the company is offering, "free credit monitoring and identity protection available to everyone affected."

It is unclear if any of the 100 million-plus affected individuals have been notified — as of publishing, none of the Capital One customers in our newsroom had received any correspondence. Representatives for the company didn't respond to repeated requests for comment.

The company has yet to send a general notification to customers about the hack — the only way to learn about it was through social media and news reports.

2. Freeze your credit!

In the worst-case scenario in a data breach like this, your Social Security number and personal information could be used for identity theft. In a slightly less awful possibility, your credit card could be used to buy things against your will. And in an even less awful possibility, you may see an increase in attempted "phishing" attacks via email and/or phone — more spam emails, and more robocalls, essentially.

There is, at the very least, one solid option for protecting against the worst scenario: A credit freeze.

Check out our full instructions right here for freezing credit with the various credit score agencies.

3. Stay vigilant! Monitor your credit card bill, and report any potentially fraudulent activity to Capital One.

At the bare minimum, there's one very easy security protection you can enact: Pay attention to your credit card bill and your bank statements!

If you see something show up that looks out of place, call your credit card company/banking institution.

Notably, Capital One says that "no credit card account numbers or log-in credentials were compromised" in the breach, "and over 99 percent of Social Security numbers were not compromised." Which is to say that it's unlikely you'll suddenly encounter fraudulent transactions on your credit card or in your bank account — but it sure doesn't hurt to pay slightly closer attention.

4. Consider an identify theft protection service.

Between the massive Equifax data breach of 2017 and the massive Capital One data breach this week, it's been a bad few years for keeping personal data secure.

If it's freaking you out, that's totally understandable. Perhaps it's time to consider enrolling in an identity theft protection service.

Both Equifax and Capital One are offering free identity theft protection to the hundreds of millions of people affected in their respective breaches, but you may want to shop around and decide which of the many different identity theft prevention services is right for you.

Instagram is a great place to share photos with your friends and family. But if you find yourself the target of harassment or trolling, the blocking feature can come in handy.

Instagram does not give users any sort of notification that they've been blocked or unblocked.

When you block a user, you are prohibiting them from messaging or following you and seeing your posts or stories. To block someone, you'll need to go to their profile page, tap or click the three dots to the right of their name, and select "Block."

If you ever change your mind, however, unblocking someone on Instagram is just as easy — and only takes a few minutes.

The process to unblock people on Instagram through your desktop, or an iPhone or Android phone, is different for each platform, but both are easy. Here's how to do it.

  • You should always sign out of YouTube if you've logged in on a shared device, like a computer at work, or in a school or library.
  • When you log out of YouTube, you'll still be able to search and view videos, but you won't be able to comment or add them to playlists.
  • Logging out of YouTube on desktop or on mobile (using either an iPhone or Android) only takes a few seconds, and getting back into your account is just as easy.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

The more you use YouTube, the more important it is that you have an account. A YouTube account lets you "Like" and comment on videos, subscribe to channels, upload your own content, and enjoy a YouTube experience that is custom-catered to your interests.

However, it's a good idea to keep your YouTube account a private affair, and that's true even if you haven't been viewing any questionable material.

Leaving yourself logged in on public computers can allow strangers to access your account, which is never good. If you know you won't be YouTubing again for a while, go ahead and sign out when you're done.

It's likewise a good idea to sign out of YouTube on mobile if your iPhone or Android phone is going to be lying around where another pair of hands might pick it up.

uber phone car app

It's hard to believe that Uber was founded a decade ago this year.

The transportation company, which launched in San Francisco in March 2009, has grown to become one of the most successful startups in history, boasting more than 75 million active users around the world.

Chances are, you've used Uber to get somewhere you needed to go before, but if you haven't and are curious about it, the set-up process couldn't be simpler.

It only takes a few minutes to sign up for Uber on your iPhone or Android, and once you have an account, you can begin booking rides immediately.

If you think you'd like to use the service for your next commute to work or on your way to the airport, here's what you need to know to get started.

Check out the products mentioned in this article:

iPhone Xs (From $999.99 at Best Buy)

Google Pixel 3 (From $699.99 at Best Buy)

How to sign up for Uber on your iPhone or Android

1. Using the Google Play store on your Android or the Apple App store on your iPhone, download the Uber app.

2. Tap on the Uber icon, which appears as a black box that says Uber in it, on your phone's home screen to launch the app.

3. You will be prompted to enter your phone number to proceed. Enter your phone number and hit the right-facing arrow to proceed.

IMG_7890.PNG

4. After hitting the arrow, you will be texted a four-digit code to the number you provided. Enter that number on the next screen.

5. Once you've confirmed your phone number, you'll be prompted to enter your email address. Enter the email address you wish to associate with your Uber account and tap the right-facing arrow.

6. On the next screen, you'll be asked to create a password. Choose a secure password that's at least 8 characters in length and not easy for others to guess and tap the arrow icon again.

IMG_7891.PNG

7. Enter your first and last name on the next screen and tap the arrow icon once more.

8. Finally, you'll be warned that by pressing the final arrow, you're agreeing to Uber's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Both items are linked below the prompt so that you can review before proceeding.

IMG_7892.PNG

9. Next, you'll be prompted to add a payment method. You can choose between credit or debit card, PayPal, or Uber gift card. Note that if you don't have any of these handy while creating your account, you can choose to skip this section for now by pressing Skip in the upper right-hand corner of your screen – but you will have to add payment before taking a ride.

10. Press the arrow one final time and you will be taken to the Uber home screen, which shows a map of your current location as well as a "Where to?" box in which you can type in the location you'd like to travel to. That's it—your Uber account is ready to use!

Uber

  • You may want to delete your Uber account if you no longer require the service.
  • Uber allows you to book rides easily, but it also stores your credit card and location data.
  • Deleting your account is a good option if you don't want Uber to have your data readily accessible anymore.
  • You can delete your Uber account easily through the mobile app for iPhone or Android.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

Uber has made getting from Point A to Point B easier than ever. In more than 80 countries worldwide, you can schedule a ride with an Uber driver with just a few taps in the app on your phone.

However, not everyone loves Uber. The company has had its fair share of criticism and controversies, and you may decide that you no longer want to use the app, or have an active account with Uber at all.

Luckily, deleting your account only takes a few minutes. Here's how to do it through Uber's mobile app, on iPhone or Android.

Check out the products mentioned in this article:

iPhone Xs (From $999 at Best Buy)

Google Pixel 3 (From $699.99 at Best Buy)

How to delete your Uber account

1. Locate the Uber icon on your phone's home screen and tap to open the app.

2. In the upper left-hand corner of your screen, tap the three horizontally stacked lines to reveal a list of menu options.

3. Towards the bottom of the menu, tap the Settings option.

IMG_7895

4. Scroll down until you see the Privacy settings option, which appears under the Family heading, and tap to open.

5. In the Privacy settings menu, look for the Delete your account option at the bottom of the screen. This appears in red text to differentiate it from the rest of the screen.

IMG_7896

6. Next, you'll be asked to verify your identity by re-entering your Uber account password. Enter this and press Verify at the bottom of your screen.

7. You will then be taken to a screen which confirms that your account will be deactivated immediately. It will take 30 days for the account to be deleted entirely from the Uber servers, which gives you a chance to reactivate it, should you change your mind. Tap continue to proceed with deletion.

IMG_7897

8. Uber will prompt you to select why you want to delete your account from a list of options. Choose the one that applies to you.

9. One more screen will ask if you're sure you want to delete your account. Tap the Delete option at the bottom right of the screen to delete your account. A message will then appear letting you know that your account has been deleted.

Again, it will take 30 days for your account to be fully deleted. If you log in during that time, your account will be reactivated, with all your data intact.

I never understood the hype around Patagonia — but this one sweater changed my mind and now I'm a member of the cult fan base

patagirl

I used to not understand why Patagonia had such a cult following. If I'm being honest, I always though it was just an expensive outdoor gear company.

Maybe it's because I grew up in Florida where my "outdoor gear" included flip flops, bathing suits, bug spray, and loose T-shirts that kept me cool in the scorching heat. I never really had to consider the need for warm performance clothing, even when camping. All that mattered was keeping the mosquitoes and love bugs from flying into my mouth while I searched for sharks' teeth in the creek.

Then I moved around the country a few times and started working at Business Insider. When my coworkers (all loyalists, or at least fans) found out that I literally didn't own anything from the company, they were what the youth these days call "shook." And so began my induction into the Cult of Patagonia.

I was given the chance to try out a few items both in an effort to bring me to the Dark Side and an opportunity to spread the good word of Patagonia to our readers. And I am now officially a convert.

patpullover

The thing that really hooked me was this Organic Cotton Quilt Snap-T Pullover ($149). I've been familiar with Patagonia's Synchilla Fleece sweaters for a while by virtue of their ubiquity at the Washington, DC university I went to, but this pullover felt new and fresh enough to differentiate itself.

At this point, and please forgive me for this cliche, I'm just wondering how I lived without it for so long.

The sweater is buttery soft and incredibly warm considering how very medium the thickness is, and the snaps on the neck allow me to bundle up or cool off as needed. Somehow the outer layer of material also manages to be slightly water-resistant despite feeling like the softest cotton you've ever touched. Plus, it doesn't hurt knowing that the pullover is made from organic cotton, which means no harmful fertilizers or pesticides were used in the growing process.

I'm usually a medium, but I sized up on this sweater to a large to give myself a roomier fit — and I'm really glad I did. I think it would have been too tight around the hips if I'd gone with the medium. The arms are slightly long, which probably has something to do with the fact that I'm only five feet tall, but I don't mind being able to pull them over my hands if I get cold while walking around.

Overall, this was the thing that brought me into the fan club. I suddenly "got" what everyone was so obsessed with. Yes, you'll pay a high price for quality, but it's exactly that quality that makes Patagonia so worthwhile. When you invest in something you know will work well, it feels better than buying two of the lesser versions. I think that's the feeling people who love Patagonia are after. Well, that and the fact that you can feel good about supporting its mission to undo the damage we silly humans have done unto our planet. It's a place for pragmatists and hopefuls to shop.

hoody

The other item I got to try out was this lightweight but powerful Raven Rocks Hoody jacket ($229), and I now understand why it's a better idea to buy a performance jacket that's actually meant to combat the cold rather than an expensive but maybe more fashion-forward alternative (however, I do think this brown color is awesome). It wasn't Patagonia that taught me that lesson, but now I trust that this is the place to go when I need something to do its job.

You can bet I'll be writing a review of the coat soon enough, but for now, suffice it to say that I've officially fallen in love with Patagonia. I have multiple items (including a Synchilla Fleece... so help me) on my wish list, and I'm looking forward to the camaraderie that is to follow once my coworkers find out that I'm now an official, card-carrying member of the cult.

'With money, your brain thinks differently': 5 elite matchmakers on what their millionaire clients look for when they date

$

rich person.JPG

Millionaire men may take their dates on private jet trips to Paris and pick them up in sports cars, but they also have pretty high expectations of the people they date.

In Business Insider's monthlong series, "Dating Like a Millionaire," five elite matchmakers divulged what men look for in a partner. The matchmakers work with clients locally and globally, from royals and celebrities to entrepreneurs and CEOs, who have net worths ranging from the low millions into the billions.

According to Janis Spindel of Janis Spindel Serious Matchmaking Inc., rich men are very picky about what they want in a partner. Here's what they look for.

Men are visual and seek attraction

"First and foremost [men] need beauty and if they are not attracted, it's a moot point and not evolving to date two," Amy Andersen of Linx Dating in San Francisco told Business Insider. "Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

"It really all comes down to human nature and what we as animals seek in a partner," April Davis of New York City-based Luma Search told Business Insider. "The number one thing males look for in a female is attraction. This may be because attraction signals 'healthy,' and healthy people can reproduce."

"Men are visual creatures," Spindel said. "It's in their DNA ... They want beauty inside and out."

She and her daughter Carly said men look for the four Bs: beauty, body, brains, and balance. Half of that equation lies in visual appearance. The same is true of men seeking men — they want a hot man and a fit body, Carly said.

Men look for an intelligent partner

The third element of the Spindels' four Bs — brains — signals that men seek intelligence in a partner. They want a woman who can teach them something, Carly said.

"Beyond looks and physicality, men need smarts," Andersen said. "They like the idea of someone who will challenge them in the most respectful, yet provocative in nature. They need someone who has a job, likes or loves what they do, and has passion in life. It could be passion for anything — but just something that motivates and excites them."

Mairead Molloy of Berkeley International, who is based in London, seconded this. She told Business Insider her male clients want someone who is well-educated and smart.

Men want the whole package

If there was one theme the matchmakers reiterated, it was that men want it all.

"With money, your brain thinks differently," Janis said. "They call the shots, they want the whole package."

"Men want the whole package and are absolutely not going to settle," Andersen said. Men, she said, also look for independence and happiness. "In other words, she has her 'own thing' going on and doesn't need a man to fulfill some void," she said. "She is content and a man will only add a new dimension to her already full, interesting life."

Men also need a woman who can hold her own socially, Andersen said, likening it to being a first lady: "If a millionaire or billionaire is taking her to one of his industry events, he needs her to look classy (not trashy), be friendly and contribute interesting things to the conversations — to have social awareness and be a good representative of his brand."

As Carly put it, "Men want someone who enriches their life and makes it even more fantastic."

  • Online jewelry startup Mejuri prides itself on taking a "non-typical" approach to the fine jewelry business. It's one of our favorite places to shop for affordable, minimalist gold jewelry
  • It also sells engagement rings (from $650) and wedding bands (from $195) that feature a variety of cuts, asymmetrical cuts, pretty gemstones, and a half-sizing convention.
  • These rings are made-to-order from high-quality materials like 14-karat solid gold and conflict-free diamonds. They can be engraved with up to 30 characters to make them feel more personal.

The practical romantic in me has to wonder, do I really want someone spending thousands of dollars on an engagement ring that's excessively flashy, expensive, and not something I'd realistically want to wear every day? It's an easy no from me, but it does seem to be the option many feel compelled to follow simply because everyone else is doing it and there aren't many accessible choices otherwise.

Canadian jewelry startup Mejuri has stepped in with its own interpretation of engagement rings and wedding bands to save couples from wasting money on pieces that don't fit their personality or style. The collection features various cuts, asymmetrical settings, pretty gemstones, and a half-sizing convention, all to emphasize a "non-typical" approach that has always characterized the online company

The engagement rings range from $650 for a pear cut, peach morganite and diamond ring to $1,350 for a round cut, blue sapphire and diamond ring, while wedding bands range from just $195 for a solid yellow or white gold band to $975 for a diamond-encrusted band. The rings and bands pair beautifully together, whether you balance out a more complex design with a simple band or play off the sparkle of a ring by introducing additional diamonds on the band.

They're made with high-quality, long-lasting materials, including 14-karat solid gold, Gemological Institute of America-graded gemstones, and conflict-free diamonds. The made-to-order rings can be engraved with up to 30 characters to make them feel more personal and truly one-of-a-kind.

Mejuri also offers 45-minute sessions with a stylist at its Toronto showroom or remotely via video chat, who can give in-depth advice and ring sizing in a private, low-pressure environment.

If the choices at cookie-cutter jewelry chains overwhelm you or inspire disappointment rather than excitement, Mejuri's engagement and wedding rings will remind you there are unique and affordable alternatives out there.

We've featured some of our favorite rings and band combinations below. Shop all engagement and wedding rings at Mejuri here.

stranger things season 3

Back in 2014, Netflix only had a handful of original programs. Now, it has more than over 100 series ranging from comedies and dramas to reality shows and adult animated series.

The streaming service is constantly adding more new content weekly. Unless you're keeping a diligent eye on what's coming and going to Netflix, you may miss a few noteworthy series.

From true crime to sci-fi, INSIDER rounded up the best Netflix original series worth binge-watching.

Heather Taylor contributed to an earlier version of this story.

SEE ALSO: The 11 best shows on TV you're probably not watching

1. "Orange Is the New Black"

You can't watch Netflix without bingeing one of its first three original series. Based on Piper Kerman's memoir of her year in a women's prison, Netflix has referred to "OITNB" as its most original popular series.

Watch the show for Uzo Aduba alone. Originally only meant to appear on three episodes, Aduba's performance won her two Primetime Emmys for the series.

It's not always easy to watch as it tackles drug use, jail riots, killings, and ICE raids. All seven seasons of the show are now available to stream.

2. "Aggretsuko"

Don't let her appearance as a cute red panda and Sanrio anime character fool you. By day, Retsuko is a 25-year-old who works in the accounting department of a trading firm in Tokyo and is often frustrated with the demands of her job. By night, she screams her heart out to death metal karaoke.

This animated original series is one of Netflix's hidden gems. Don't feel guilty about binge-watching this one. Each episode goes by in a quick 15 minutes.

3. "Black Mirror"

Picked up by Netflix after originally airing its first two seasons on UK's Channel 4, "Black Mirror" is an anthology series that explores the complicated effects of technology on modern society.

From episodes that explore futuristic dating and social apps, you'll never look at your phone the same way again.

The original series has won six Emmys, including outstanding TV movie for its episode, "USS Callister," featuring Jesse Plemons in a "Star Trek"-like episode. The fifth season is currently streaming on Netflix with Miley Cyrus and Anthony Mackie starring in two of the season's three episodes.

4. "Stranger Things"

In the sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana, a young boy named Will vanishes into thin air in the 1980s. As Will's friends and family try to find him, they discover "the Upside Down," a parallel universe where dark creatures reside.

The series made overnight stars out of actors like Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour. The third season is now streaming.

5. "GLOW"

"GLOW," or "Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling," was originally a 1980s TV show, and its revitalized counterpart shares the elements that made it a hit.

A strong female ensemble cast, including Alison Brie ("Community") and Betty Gilpin along with their '80s hairstyles and looks will keep you coming back for more. The third season premieres on Netflix on Friday, August 9.

6. "Mindhunter"

Directed by filmmaker David Fincher, "Mindhunter" depicts two FBI agents pushed to their limits as they explore the psychology of murder by getting alarmingly close to the killers themselves in the 1970s.

Cameron Britton received an Emmy nomination for guest actor in a drama series for his role as serial killer Ed Kemper. The series will return for a second season on Friday, August 16.

7. "Ozark"

In "Ozark," the Byrde family moves from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, not necessarily for a more peaceful life, but because patriarch Marty Byrde (played by Jason Bateman) is a money launderer for a Mexican drug cartel.

The series received nine 2019 Emmy nods, including outstanding drama series. If you're seeking a series to fill the "Breaking Bad" hole, this could be the ticket.

8. "Queer Eye"

A reboot of Bravo's "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," the series returned to Netflix with a brand-new Fab Five — Antoni Porowski, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Jonathan Van Ness, and Tan France.

They're bubbling over with positivity and are ready to help reinvent the lives of men and women across the country.

9. "The Crown"

The prestige drama about the life of Queen Elizabeth II starts out in the late '40s before moving to the '60s for its second season.

Claire Foy won the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for her performance as the Queen. The upcoming third season is expected to take place in the late '60s and early '70s, with the original cast being replaced as the characters age.

10. "Nailed It"

If you love reality competition shows and are looking for a few laughs, "Nailed It!" has you covered. Each 30-minute episode showcases three amateur bakers as they compete against one another for $10,000.

All the contestants have to do is nail two different baking tasks where they're asked to recreate specially designed cookies, cupcakes, and even cakes in intricate detail. (Spoiler: They rarely succeed.) But their efforts make it all worth a watch. You'll go through a few episodes in no time.

Read more:17 hilarious side-by-side photos from 'Nailed It!,' the Netflix series about baking fails, show why people love it so much

11. "One Day at a Time"

We were admittedly a little late to the reimagining of the original CBS sitcom of the same name, but it packs a heavier punch than we expected. That's thanks to the performances of Justina Machado as an army vet trying to juggle two teenagers as a single mom and Rita Moreno as her tough-as-nails Cuban mother.

What looked like a cookie-cutter sitcom surprised us by unexpectedly addressing depression, anxiety, alcoholism, homophobia, immigration, and racism through the eyes of a Cuban American family.

Netflix canceled the series after three seasons. Pop TV picked it up for a fourth season which will air in 2020, making it the first canceled Netflix series to be picked up by another network.

12. "Russian Doll"

Do you like "Groundhog Day?" Then "Russian Doll" is probably for you. Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) is stuck celebrating her birthday over and over again as she finds herself stuck in a time loop. You'll speed through the eight-episode first season as you're gleefully repeating "Sweet birthday baby" aloud.

If you're still a bit hesitant, the show received 13 Emmy nominations, including one for outstanding comedy series. Lyonne also received a nod for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series. The series was renewed for a second season.

Man on Windows Computer

  • If you need to check your version of Windows, you can find out by typing "winver" in the Start menu search box.
  • Depending upon which version of Windows you have, you might also be able to open a window that displays additional information.
  • This information is important if you have Windows 7, because support for that operating system ends in January 2020.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

Do you know which version of Windows you're running? Most of the time, there's little reason to care. But sometimes you need to know. Some programs and computer hardware will only work with a specific version of Windows, for example.

You might also need to know if it's time to upgrade. Microsoft generally supports each version of its operating system for about ten years, and "extended support" for Windows 7 ends on January 14, 2020

That means Microsoft won't offer any updates or technical support after that date. If you have Windows 8, you have a little more time – support ends for that operating system on January 10, 2023.

You can add extra stops to any Uber ride — here's how to do it, and avoid added charges for delaying at a stop

Uber Picture.JPG

  • Uber allows you to add up to two stops along the route to your final destination, with your fare increasing according to how much distance you add.
  • You should stay at each stop for no more than three minutes, or you could be charged an extra fee.
  • Stops can be added to an Uber route scheduled in advance, as you are actively awaiting for your driver, or even while you're in the vehicle.
  • You can add stops from the Uber mobile app, available on both iPhone and Android.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

So your plans have changed, and you need to make a quick stop while riding in an Uber? No problem—with just a few taps on the app, you can add a stop to your trip.

The Uber app makes it easy to add up to two stops while between your pickup point and final destination. Just keep in mind that your fare will go up accordingly as your stops add distance and time to the drive.

Also, you'll need to make the stops fast: Uber asks that a stop not last more than three minutes. Any longer than that, and you could incur extra fees.

And finally, you can both schedule a multiple stop Uber ride in advance, or add stops once you're already in the middle of the trip.

You can add stops with just a few taps in the Uber mobile app on iPhone or Android.

Check out the products mentioned in this article:

iPhone Xs (From $999 at Best Buy)

Google Pixel 3 (From $699.99 at Best Buy)

How to add a stop to an Uber ride

1. Launch the app and tap the words "Where to?" to begin planning your multi-stop ride.

2. Tap the "+" (plus symbol) beside the search bar with the faint words "Where to?"

IMG_4972

3. Enter the first stop into the first taskbar reading "Add a stop."

4. If needed, add a second stop into the next taskbar reading "Add a stop," then your final destination in the last taskbar, and then hit "Done." If you only need to make one extra stop, hit "Done" once that stop and your final end point are entered.

IMG_4973.PNG

And if you need to add a stop while on the go, you can do so by going through the same basic process: click "Where to?" from the app homescreen and then tap the "+" to add a destination.

Likewise, you can delete an added stop from your trip screen at any point prior to reaching it.

Billionaires tend to make riskier investment choices than millionaires, and it helps explain why ultra high net worth individuals lost so much of their money in 2018

Last year's stock market slump was hard on many investors' portfolios, but it hit one group particularly hard: billionaires.

Billionaires across the globe lost 7% of their collective net worth in 2018 due to market instability at the end of the year, Wealth-X found in its 2019 Billionaire Census. Slowing economic growth across the globe and trade tensions also contributed to the wealth drop, according to Wealth-X.

In fact, this was the first time in three years that high net worth individuals saw their fortunes shrink, according to French technology consulting firm Capgemini.

In the ninth edition of its annual World Wealth Report, Capgemini examines how high net worth individuals manage their wealth. The report examines these individuals in three groups: "millionaires next door," with net worths between $1 million and $5 million; mid-tier millionaires, with net worths between $5 million and $30 million; and ultra-high net worth individuals, with net worths above $30 million. About 90% of the world's high net worth individuals fall into the "millionaires next door" group, according to Capgemini

The report found that, at the end of the year, "millionaires next door" outperformed billionaires: The collective wealth of "millionaires next door" dropped less than half of 1% in 2018, according to Capgemini.

Billionaires, on the other hand, fared the worst.

"[Billionaires] account for around 1% of the population of high-net-worth individuals, but they accounted for 75% of the overall wealth decline in the high-net-worth individuals space," Capgemini's Deputy Head of the Global Financial Services Market Intelligence Strategic Analysis GroupChirag Thakral told Business Insider.

Billionaires' investment choices may be to blame, Thakral said. "Millionaires next door" tend to choose less risky investments that perform better in volatile markets, Thakral said, while billionaires often include riskier investments like commercial real estate, hedge funds, and private equities in their portfolios.

As Business Insider previously reported, buying and holding stocks from companies with long histories of growth is the best investment strategy in a volatile market, according to Bank of America strategists. Large-cap consumer staples, industrials, and technology stocks also tend to perform well in a turbulent market, Bank of America said.

"It's the risk versus reward scenario, where in a good market [billionaires] are the ones leading the growth, in a bad market, they're the ones who are affected the most," Thakral said.

How to boot your Windows 10 computer from a USB drive

$

0

windows laptop computer

  • If you have a bootable USB drive, you can boot your Windows 10 computer from the USB drive.
  • The easiest way to boot from USB is to open the Advanced Startup Options by holding the Shift key when you choose the Restart option in the Start menu.
  • If your Windows 10 computer isn't booting from the USB drive, you may need to tweak the BIOS (basic input/output system) settings.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

In the old days, people commonly booted their computer from CDs and even floppy disks, but those days are long gone.

Now, if you need to troubleshoot your PC, boot from a different version of the operating system, or install a Windows upgrade, it's frequently done by booting from a USB drive.

Windows 10 has made booting from USB very easy to do. All you need is a USB memory drive that has a bootable version of Windows, and to follow a few simple steps.

Check out the products mentioned in this article:

HP ENVY x360 (From $699.99 at Best Buy)

How to boot from USB using Windows 10

1. Make sure your computer is on and the Windows desktop is running.

2. Insert the bootable USB drive into an open USB port on your computer.

3. Click the Start button and then click the Power icon so you can see the Shutdown options.

boot 1

4. Press and hold the Shift key, then click "Restart."

5. Your computer will shut down, and when it restarts, you'll see the Advanced Startup Options screen. Choose "Use a device."

boot 2

6.Choose the USB device that you want to boot from, and your computer will then restart using your USB drive.

How to boot from USB using your Windows computer's startup system

If the Windows 10 boot method doesn't work, it might be because your PC's BIOS (basic input/output system) doesn't support it. You can still boot from the USB drive, though you will need to tweak the BIOS settings.

Unfortunately, every BIOS screen is configured differently, so you will need to explore the options for yourself.

1. Shut off your computer.

2. Turn it back on and press the key indicated briefly on the startup screen to enter your BIOS Setup. It's usually Escape, F1, F2, F8, F11, or F12. If no such screen appears, your BIOS may be set to "fast boot" mode, so you will need to experiment with different keys at bootup, before the Windows screen appears. For more information, you should consult the documentation that came with your PC

3. In the boot menu, look for the boot order controls and move the USB drive to the top of the list.

4. Save your settings and restart the computer with the USB key installed.

Your 30-step plan for getting the promotion you want and deserve

$

man happy thinking confused work

If you haven't gotten the promotion you were hoping for, don't fret. There's still just enough time to get the new title, perks, and pay.

Ramit Sethi, author and founder of iwillteachyoutoberich.com, wrote that it can take just three to six months to establish yourself as a top performer in the company.

Read more:5 habits keeping you from getting a promotion — and 5 things you can do today to change them

By keeping an open dialogue with your managers about your ambitions and excelling at your goals, you'll be in a prime position for a promotion.

Here is your 30-step plan on how to get a promotion:

SEE ALSO: 11 tips to help you move on from a job rejection

DON'T MISS: 5 habits keeping you from getting a promotion — and 5 things you can do today to change them

First, understand that you can't get promoted just because you've been there for a while.

The fact that you put in a few years at a certain company doesn't mean you're automatically eligible for a promotion. You'll need to show that you add value to the company.

"After a certain amount of time, employees just expect a promotion, but they don't stop to think if they really are effective," wrote Thuy Sindell and Milo Sindell, the principals of Skyline Group, in Entrepreneur.

Put office politics aside and take responsibility for your own career growth.

The number one reason holding you back from a promotion is blaming other people, says Marc Cenedella, founder and CEO of Ladders job search. Getting a promotion in a matter of months will require effort, and likely a change in your current habits.

Bringing yourself to change your mindset might be a difficult step, but an imperative one as you begin to seek a promotion.

"As a professional and an adult looking to get ahead in their life, you have to conquer yourself and just stop doing it," Cenedella said.

Instead, demonstrate that you deserve a promotion by being a leader today.

Owning your projects is a key way to show you're already a leader.

Show your bosses that you're able to lead and inspire your coworkers by being able to independently come up with and complete major and minor projects.

"Organizations place a premium on individuals who follow through on tasks," Kyle Wong of Pixlee told The Muse. "If you can prove that you can consistently own projects from start to finish, you will not only get promoted, but you'll also make yourself indispensable."

Figure out what needs improvement in the company, and address it.

Solving the problems that others shy away from is a great way to quickly get promoted, James Caan, CEO of private-equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw, wrote in a LinkedIn post.

Look at where the inefficiencies or problems in your company are, Caan wrote. Then, focus your efforts on improving those areas.

"Every manager is impressed by self-starters, and somebody who takes the initiative in areas where the business may be weak is putting themselves high up the list for a promotion," Caan wrote.

Some top executives suggest acting like you already have the promotion — and the responsibilities it comes with.

Libby Leffler, a former Facebook executive and current vice president at SoFi, got ahead by working for the job she wanted. That meant taking on challenges and responsibilities that come from a higher role, instead of just settling for doing what you're told every day.

"Why don't you start doing that role today? Not tomorrow, not a month from now. If that's the role that you really want, start doing it," Leffler told Business Insider's Shana Lebowitz

Consider learning some new skills.

Some upper-level roles require that candidates have certain skills that their subordinates don't have, Cenedella said. Figure out what those are and learn them, whether through an online course or through building your soft skills

Become a calming office presence.

"The people who typically get promoted keep their cool under stress," Nicole Munoz of Start Ranking Now told The Muse. "When an issue arises, they want to solve it and work to avoid future problems by learning from their mistakes."

Try dressing up a little.

Some studies indicate that a simple outfit change can boost your confidence and lead you to professional success. Other research finds employees wearing suits and blazers were more productive. That's why some experts say everyone — from interns to managers — should come to work dressed like a CEO.

"People who wear that kind of clothing feel more powerful," Michael L. Slepian, an assistant professor of organizational behavior at Columbia Business School, told the Wall Street Journal. "When you feel more powerful, you don't have to focus on the details."

And start showing up a little earlier, too.

Cenedella says some companies take people who show up early as serious contenders for a promotion. Research from the University of Washington found supervisors rate employees who come in late as being lower performers, even if they work the same number of hours as their peers.

Avoid getting bogged down by daily tasks.

While you should complete your basic tasks, avoid getting caught up in the constant influx of emails, projects, and meetings, career coach Anna Cosic told Business Insider.

This is reactive work, and a Harvard Business School study said that should be kept to only 40% of your day.

"At the end of the day, you may get a lot done, but you haven't done anything that stands out or impresses the people around you," Cosic told Business Insider.

Delegate or eliminate what's not clearly important.

There's a chance that many of those draining duties aren't really important, Business Insider's Shana Lebowitz reported.

Take stock of how you spend your time and what tasks feel most boring. You might be able to remove those from your daily duties, or at least reduce them significantly.

Then, you can focus on strategic, high-level decisions that show your capability for a leadership role.

Indicate that you can take on more.

Don't be that person running around in a panic, answering emails at 3 am and looking ready to have a breakdown at any moment.

If you look like you're flailing, you won't be noticed as a candidate for a promotion, Cosic said.

"If you don't give the impression that you can take on a lot more, you probably can't — and won't," Cosic told Business Insider. "You need to project the impression that you are not at full capacity, while still over delivering on your goals."

Don't engage in office politics.

Even if they beat their goals and drive revenue, most managers would be cautious to promote a rabble-rouser or someone who isn't trustworthy.

"While it's important to understand the balance of office politics, individuals who are able to rise above the temptations stand out for management roles," Souny West of CHiC Capital told The Muse

Research what opportunities are out there, and meet the key players in those areas.

When you're considering your short-term future, it's important to know the trends in your company and across the industry.

"Leaders need to know the business inside and out," the Sindells wrote. "They need to understand the company vision, mission and strategy, and with this broader picture in mind identify what the company is doing well and what can be improved."

Understand where your company is growing and what steps you can take to be part of those new growth areas, Cosic said. Meet the people who are involved for coffee or lunch to learn more about those opportunities.

Immerse yourself in company culture.

Get involved in your company through building relationships outside your team, workplace strategist Erica Keswin says. She suggests joining employee resource groups for women or minorities, or attending other company outings.

Showing you're a team player and "broadening your reach within an organization" helps showcase your company loyalty, Keswin told Business Insider.

At least once a week, promote yourself to the higher-ups.

Making your accomplishments known should be at least a weekly practice, Cosic told Business Insider.

Notify your boss every time you complete an important deliverable or solve a major customer issue, or if you excel at any other important metric. It might seem aggressive, but your bosses might not otherwise know that you're moving the company forward.

"A lot of people do amazing work every single day, but it goes unrecognized," Cosic told Business Insider.

Set up a casual meeting with your boss to show your interest.

You should be having regular conversations with your boss about your ambition and interest in larger opportunities.

Otherwise, opportunities for promotions or new projects may arise without your knowing.

"You can be the most talented and professional person in the world, but if the people at the top think that you are happy where you are, they may overlook you when there are promotions available," Caan wrote on LinkedIn.

"Of course, you don't want to seem overly competitive or pushy, but good managers will always have an interest in what your personal goals are — so don't be afraid to explain them."

After talking with your boss, give yourself three to six months to become known as a top performer.

Don't expect to be qualified for a promotion just after a few weeks of kicking butt, Sethi wrote.

After you've had the initial conversation with your boss about opportunities for new responsibilities, become a top performer in the following three to six months. Then make your plan for the big ask.

Understand that preparation is key.

You might think that just doing a good job is the only requirement to getting a promotion, but you'll also have to present your case in a convincing, galvanizing way.

"You want to make the conversation flow as smoothly as possible," Sethi wrote. "The discussion should be mutually beneficial so your boss sees the tremendous value you've delivered."

Understand the goals that you need to accomplish.

Before you try to demonstrate that you can be a leader, you need to make sure that you're meeting the basic standards of your current role.

Career strategist Miriam Salpeter previously told Business Insider that it's important to have goals that you can use to measure your success. Make sure you and your supervisor both understand how success looks in your organization and what is expected.

If your employer does not make this clear, it is up to you to identify these targets and pursue these goals.

Prepare a case based on how you've quantifiably exceeded your goals.

Find the numbers that prove your contribution to the workplace, model and businesswoman Tyra Banks previously told Business Insider.

"You need to sit there and talk about your value. Talk about what you have done that has increased revenues, increased engagement," Banks said in a Business Insider video .

That data should comprise the bulk of your promotion conversation because it's hard proof of how valuable you are to the company — and how you're ready for something even bigger.

"People should have that information ready when they go into that meeting with their boss," Salemi previously told Business Insider. "It shouldn't be spontaneous. It should be really well-thought, intentional, and planned."

Stuck? These questions might remind you of your worth.

Sethi wrote that you should review the following questions while preparing your case for a promotion:

  • Have you delivered specific results? Which ones? Estimate how much they were worth.
  • Has your communication improved? How so?
  • Are you more efficient than before? How do you know?
  • Do you know the business better? How does this translate to the company's bottom line?
  • Have you developed new skills? What kind?

Set up another meeting to discuss the promotion.

"Schedule a convenient, relaxed time for your manager and you to sit down, uninterrupted," Taylor previously told Business Insider . "Approach the subject diplomatically, with an upbeat, positive demeanor."

Practice what you want to say beforehand.

You have proof of your continued success within the company and an understanding of where the industry is headed. You're almost ready to present your case.

Now, practice with a trusted mentor, Paul McDonald, senior executive director at global staffing firm Robert Half , previously told Business Insider.

"A great mentor gives feedback not just on what you say, but also on how you say it," McDonald said. "Tone of voice, facial reaction, defensiveness, frustration can all hinder a negotiation. Practice the discussion until it's free of emotion and nerves."

Explore the data of how you've exceeded.

"You should always link individual performance to departmental goals, and then to overall company goals and how what you've done directly impacted each," Ochstein previously told Business Insider.

Don't spare any detail in how you've benefited the company. Your boss might not know all of the finer points, Salpeter told Business Insider.

"If you are working harder and contributing more, it's up to you to be sure people know about it," Salpeter said.

"Do not assume people with authority to provide a raise (or promotion) fully understand your work unless you are making a consistent effort to ensure you are advancing forward with your goals and that they are tracked."

Deliver with confidence.

The tips you think of for a job interview — confidence, energy, positivity — carry over here.

"You have to sell yourself, just like it's a job interview," Clare Moore, a content marketing manager at HR company MHR, previously told Business Insider.

Fran Hauser, media executive, startup investor, and author of the book "The Myth of the Nice Girl," wrote for Business Insider that you need to maintain strong eye contact, have good posture, and avoid filler words like "um."

Keep energy high and be positive, showing that you love your job and you're passionate.

"The delivery of your message matters," Hauser wrote. "If you sound like you're not sure about whether you deserve a raise, it may raise doubts for the person across the table. It will also tip them off that it's easy for them to say no."

If you get turned down, ask what you need to do to improve.

If you get a "no," don't get defensive. Ask why not and what you can do to improve.

"Get as much specific feedback as possible so you can figure out what steps you need to take to get to the next level," Hauser wrote.

Keep an open dialogue.

Ideally, you should be having regular, open conversations with your boss about your future at the company.

If this conversation didn't result in a promotion, schedule a talk with your boss a few months down the road to check in again and see if you're improving toward a new title.

"Talk about what you want with your boss," Toni Thompson, vice president of people and talent at The Muse, previously told Business Insider. "Make sure that they know what salary you want eventually and the title you want or more opportunities that you want."

No improvement in sight? Consider moving on.

If it's clear that your company has no room for you at the upper echelons, don't hesitate to look elsewhere.

"If you are at a stage where you have been with the same company for a while and are seeing no progress, then the best way to move up the ladder is to find a new company," Caan wrote.

"Allowing yourself to get stale is never a good option, and although leaving a job can be tough, it may be a necessity."

Got the promotion? Don't forget to follow up over email.

Congrats! Now it's time to make a paper trail so you can delineate out your exact raise, title, new duties, and other logistics.

Mention your excitement to continue making great contributions to the company. Spell out all changes to your compensation package and duties and when they will take effect.
