The niche sport of equestrian show jumping has caught the eye of some of the wealthiest people in the world.

For those who can afford to take part in competitions, show jumping offers millions of dollars of prize money and international glory.

In the US, some of the sport's most high-profile participants are the daughters of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Michael Bloomberg, and Bruce Springsteen.

But despite the high stakes and noteworthy names that compete, show jumping remains far outside the public eye.

Here's a look inside the exciting, lucrative, and sometimes dangerous world of show jumping:

Equestrian jumping has long been associated with royalty.

Only the wealthiest of families can afford to break into the sport. Today, prized horses can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. The cost of maintaining a horse can easily reach tens of thousands of dollars a month.

There are various equestrian disciplines, including dressage, eventing, and show jumping.

The world's most expensive cities to live in have been revealed in a major survey of almost 300 population hubs.

The destinations are named in the 14th Annual Demographia International Housing Affordability Survey: 2018.

It analysed 293 metropolitan housing markets in nine countries — Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, the UK, and the US — in the third quarter of 2017.

Using the "median multiple" approach, which involves taking an area's median house price and dividing it by — the median household income. So if the aver gae income was $50,000 and the average house cost $250,000, the median multiple would be 5.

The method found 26 "severely unaffordable" locations, with the worst offenders in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and China.

The survey also looked at all cities, non-major markets included — which is the data we've compiled below.

10. Tauranga, Western Bay of Plenty, New Zealand — New Zealand's housing is severely unaffordable with an overall median multiple of 5.8, and in Tauranga the average home costs 8.9 times the average income.

=9. Salinas, Monterrey, California, USA — Located in the county of Monterrey, Salinas — a city with a population of less than 150,000 — has a median multiple of 9.1.

=9. San Francisco, California, USA — Tied with Salinas is hilly, much more populous San Francisco, also with a median multiple of 9.1.

Princess Eugenie and her boyfriend Jack Brooksbank, a London socialite, are getting married.

Buckingham Palace announced the engagement on Monday morning, adding that they got engaged in Nicaragua earlier this month.

Brooksbank has been described by UK society magainze Tatler as "the king of the London club scene", and is the manager of the Mahiki night club in Chelsea, a royal favourite.

They will marry at some point this autumn at St George's Chapel in Windsor, the same venue as Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Ed Sheeran may be best known for wooing the world with his romantic pop hits, but now the singer-songwriter is officially off-limits.

26-year-old Sheeran announced his engagement to 25-year-old hockey player and former risk strategist Cherry Seaborn on Saturday afternoon via an Instagram post. The photo — a polaroid of the pair cuddling — is captioned: "Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx."

Sheeran and Seaborn first met when they attended school together at Thomas Mills High School in the village of Framlingham in Suffolk, according to The Sun.

Sheeran reportedly had a crush on Seaborn even back then, despite her being in the year below.

After they finished their secondary education, Sheeran famously dropped out of school to pursue a career in music.

Seaborn, on the other hand, went to Durham University then flew across the Atlantic to study Molecular Biology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina for a short stint. She reportedly chose the university for its hockey facilities, having captained her British team in back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013, according to her bio on the Duke website.

Despite their different career paths, the pair came together in 2015 when they bumped into each other in a bar in New York. Sheeran was touring at the time, and Seaborn was reportedly working as a risk strategist at an NYC-based consulting and advisory company.

They started dating, although their relationship was kept largely under wraps until Taylor Swift, a close friend of Sheeran, threw the happy couple a one-year anniversary party in 2016. Swift posted a photo of the couple to her Instagram, which has since been deleted.

Despite keeping their relationship largely private (there are only a few photos of the pair on Sheeran's social media accounts, while Seaborn's accounts are all private), Sheeran has been honest with the press regarding his feelings towards his now-fiancee.

In an interview on BBC Radio 2 in February 2017, Sheeran said: "I spent every day for a year with this certain person, we kind of have a strong relationship now, which is good.

"I'm really secure now, we live together and we have cats, and I think when you have cats that's kind of it."

And according to his engagement post, the couple's cats, Dorito (shown below) and Calippo, are "chuffed" with the news as well.

There's no word yet on when the pair is getting married. Nevertheless, 2018 could be a busy year regarding national sweethearts getting hitched.

The UK's other favourite redhead, Prince Harry, is marrying Meghan Markle in May, while "Game of Thrones" stars Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie have alluded to their upcoming wedding taking place this year, also.

Paro, a valley town in the Kingdom of Bhutan, sits 2,225 m (7,300 ft) above sea level and is surrounded by the Himalayan mountains.

Bhutan’s Paro international airport is said to be one of the most dangerous to land at, and you can see why in this video.

The "exciting" descent brings you closer to the mountain tops than normal, according to the tourism board — so you'll want to make sure that you're in safe hands.

A spokesperson for private jet charter company Victor told Business Insider that a political stop in India is often required for visitors arriving from certain countries, and that it can sometimes take up to 10 days to get permits. However, fly private, and you can arrive direct and have a permit secured on your behalf. 

The airport is also only served by two commercial airlines, according to the tourism board.

Bob Seidel, CEO of Alerion Aviation private jet company, told Business Insider: "One destination that is only accessible via private jet is an island called Norman’s Cay in the Bahamas.

Once the headquarters of the Medellin Cartel, the famous drug smugglers from Colombia, he said: "Today, it is a super exclusive resort being developed by the Four Seasons Owners in Miami."

They recently extended the runway to accommodate private jets, as beforehand you could only get there by turboprops — or a boat, of course.

And it looks pretty dreamy. It's popular with travel bloggers and explorers, with a big draw being the iconic plane wreck that crashed in the 1980s, which you can visit in the shallows. 

Agra (for Taj Mahal), India.

Luxury private jet tour operator TCS World Travel told Business Insider it has a cunning route to a popular destination, involving exclusive access at a military base.

Richard Butler, who has has circled the globe 26 times in his role as an expedition leader for the company, said: "The beauty of a private jet is that you can fly point-to-point to places like Agra, where we fly straight into the military airport. Then we stay in a hotel where every room has views of the Taj Mahal so you can watch the sunrise."

Claire Dineen, marketing manager for the company added: "Commercially, guests would have to land in New Delhi and transport down to Agra by road, taking several hours."

TCS World Travel takes passengers to the Taj Mahal as part of its "Timeless Encounters" 24-day around the world expedition also stopping at Bora Bora, Dubai, and Prague — that's if you've got the spare $135,000.

The first purple roundels marking Underground stations across London's new Elizabeth line have been installed, bringing the 10-year project closer to completion.

The first signs were put in place at stations including Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, and Custom House.

The Elizabeth line is a massive upgrade to the existing underground system. The £14.8 billion project, which connects 30 existing stations with 26 miles of new tunnels, is the biggest construction project ever undertaken in Europe.

Services from Liverpool Street to Shenfield will open in December 2018 with the full line being operational by the end of 2019.

The section of the line that will be operational from December 2018 has now been illustrated on an updated Tube map. 

The new roundels were installed in January across some of the platforms that are being upgraded for the Elizabeth line.

The roundels are bright purple, the signature color of London's newest railway.

The roundels have been manufactured across the UK in sites at Exeter, Glasgow, and the Isle of White, according to the Crossrail Project.

Brooksbank and Eugenie have been together for more than seven years. They started dating in 2010, while Eugenie was still a student at Newcastle University, where she studied English literature, art history, and politics.

When Princess Andrew got engaged to Ferguson in 1986, he gave her a large oval ruby ring set in 10 drop diamonds on a yellow and white gold band.

Jennifer Fox has spent her career making documentaries, but with her latest movie, “The Tale,” she’s turned to narrative storytelling and uses the structure to explore her experience with sexual abuse.

In the era of the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements, “The Tale” is a project that has shown up right when everyone in Hollywood is publicly grappling with sexual misconduct. But the process of making "The Tale" started long before the Harvey Weinstein sexual misconduct allegations kick-started the conversation.

Unlike documentaries, which can be shot and edited at a quick pace (while a hot-button issue is in the zeitgeist), narrative storytelling takes a lot longer. You have to develop a script, get the money, cast it, shoot it, edit it, and so on. It takes years, and can lead to movies with a social pulse feeling dated when finally released.

Fox didn’t anticipate our culture’s current examination of sexual misconduct when she decided to make “The Tale,” but sometimes a story and an issue link up.

"The Tale"

At 13 years old, Fox wrote a story titled “The Tale” for a school project. It addressed a girl talking about her “special” relationship with two adult coaches — one male, one female. She said the work was fiction, but in fact it was all too true. Fox has now taken it and adapted it into a movie.

In the film, Laura Dern plays Jennifer. Like Fox, she’s a thriving documentarian. But when her mother (Ellen Burstyn) comes across “The Tale” story she wrote at 13, she sends it to her daughter as she realizes, reading between the lines, that what Jennifer wrote was truth not fiction.

At first, Jennifer deflects her mother’s theory. Reading the story she composed 40 years ago, she doesn’t see anything that would suggest that the relationships she had with her coaches (the female, her horse riding coach; the male, her running and conditioning coach) were inappropriate. But quickly her childhood memories return, and eventually Jennifer heads out on a fact-finding mission that leads to her confronting the two coaches (played by Frances Conroy and the late John Heard in the present day, and Jason Ritter/Elizabeth Debicki in flashbacks).

But what is striking about “The Tale” is the unconventional way the story is told.

Flashbacks and unreliable memories

Fox uses flashbacks to recount her 13-year-old self in the 1970s. But she often replays scenes and sequences numerous times, as the character receives revelations from friends and family that change what she thought happened. This dramatizes how memory can never be 100% reliable, and shows how the brain can alter facts to cope with bad memories.

Fox also uses her documentary style, setting up scenes in which grown-up Jennifer asks questions to her younger self, and the two coaches, as if the scenes were revealing one-on-ones for a doc.

However, the part of the movie that’s going to get the biggest reaction is the graphic nature of the sexual content. Fox doesn’t hold back in showing how the coaches manipulate Jennifer into a sexual relationship with the male coach, with scenes depicting the coach having sexual encounters with her, even taking her virginity.

The scenes are very tough to watch, but they are essential to the movie. They are not there to glorify or titillate, but to lay out to the audience how the coaches made Jennifer feel she was the one with the power, and was becoming a woman through their guidance, when in fact she was just their pleasure toy.

Dern gives a powerhouse performance as a strong-willed woman who has to reexamine her life. Child actress Isabelle Nélisse plays 13-year-old Jennifer with a maturity that’s astounding to watch. Burstyn, Ritter, Debicki, Conroy, and Heard all give strong supporting performances (Common plays Jennifer’s boyfriend — but it’s not his best work).

“The Tale” is the first movie that really epitomizes the #MeToo movement. Though there will likely be a lot of talk about the sex scenes in the movie, this is a story that needs to show the horrors to tell it correctly.

The powerful stories of victims revealed in newspapers, magazines, and websites since last October is what has made the country take notice. This is not the time to water things down.

“The Tale” is seeking distribution.

Wax is the body’s natural protection of the ear canal. But too much of it can cause damage, including infections or pressure in the ear.

"Wax is composed of three things: dead skin, the oil that everyone secretes onto their skin called sebum, and a specialised form of sweat called cerumen," ENT surgeon Simon Gane told Business Insider.

We went to the Clear Ear Clinic in Oxford to get our ears cleared using a procedure called microsuction.

"It's done with a tiny vacuum that hoovers everything that's in the ear gently," ENT nurse practitioner Sarah Elliott told Business Insider.

It takes around 15 minutes to clean both ears.

Ears have a natural clearance mechanism to get rid of the excess wax. But sometimes using earplugs, cotton buds, or drops will prevent this system from doing its job, leading to more buildup.

There are also other factors that determine one’s wax buildup, such as genetics, and the size of one's ear canal.

A microsuction for both ears at the Clear Ear Clinic costs £85. Doctors recommend getting your ears checked annually.

You may have heard of lucid dreaming, the type of dream where the dreamer is aware of dreaming. Is lucid dreaming a real phenomenon? Sleep expert Matthew Walker explains how much we know about lucid dreams so far. Following is a transcript of the video.

Jessica Orwig: What if we could control our dreams?

When most of us dream, our thoughts and actions are involuntary. The dream plays out as if we were watching a movie. But not all dreams are the same. There is another kind of dreaming called lucid dreaming, which is more like playing a video game than watching a movie.

Matthew Walker: By definition lucid dreaming is simply the act of knowing that you're dreaming whilst you're dreaming.

My name is Matthew Walker. I am a professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California Berkeley.

Most people actually think of lucid dreaming more in the sense of actually beginning to control what you're dreaming. So, you gain volitional control and you decide what's going to happen during your dream.

Orwig: Frequent lucid dreamers claim that they can control many parts of the dream such as teleporting themselves to another location, learning to improve real-life skills, or even eating fire. It might sound far-fetched. And until recently we lacked the technology to prove if lucid dreaming was real or not. But a series of recent studies has shed light on the phenomenon.

Walker: Scientists have designed experiments and they’ve been able to demonstrate objectively that when people say that they're doing something in that dream that they actually are.

Orwig: In 2012, scientists reported results from one of the first experiments that objectively measured lucid dreams using fMRI scanners.  fMRIs measure the rate of blood flow to different areas of the brain, so they can relay information about a person's thoughts and actions simply through a series of images.

For the study, scientists first asked participants to clench their fists while they were awake. This lit up key areas of the brain on the fMRI scanner. After that, participants were asked to fall asleep and dream about clenching their fists. Sure enough — similar regions of the brain lit up in both cases.

Lucid dreaming comes naturally to some, but many of us have never experienced the sensation. However, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

Walker: How can we actually become more capable of lucid dreaming? Well, it's a little bit tricky, but you can certainly try to tell yourself that you will remember that you're dreaming whilst you're dreaming before you actually fall asleep. So, try to go through a mantra chant as it were. Some people actually try to do deliberative things whilst sleeping, like turning on the lights in a room. And that helps them to become aware that they are dreaming at the moment of dreaming itself and therefore they gain lucid control.

Orwig: Those who can already control their dreams with ease say lucid dreams aren’t only for entertainment but can also be used to expand one's conscious boundaries.

On the other hand, lucid dreamers have also reported frightening accounts where they have trouble distinguishing reality from the dream. In some cases, this can be a sign of mental illness, and should be taken seriously.

But why do some people have the ability to lucid dream but not others? And what is happening in our subconscious that triggers the experience? There’s still a lot we have to learn about the causes and effects of lucid dreaming.

Walker: It seems to be only around 20 to 30% of the population are actually natural lucid dreamers. So, perhaps if it was so beneficial mother nature would have had all of us being table of lucid dreaming. And the fact that we’re not perhaps means that it's not necessarily beneficial. But we actually don’t know. Maybe those 20 to 30% of people who do lucid dream are at the forefront of hominid evolution, and they are going to be the next species of preference. We just don't know.

As Business Insider reported, celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain says no one needs a knife set— you just need one good chef's knife. "Like a pro, you should use the tip for the small stuff, and the area nearer the heel for the larger," Bourdain writes in his 2000 memoir, "Kitchen Confidential."

Bourdain says you may also find it useful to own a flexible boning knife for fish and meat, a paring knife for vegetables, and a serrated knife for just about anything.

Working out is hard work. To avoid giving up, a lot of people stick to a specific schedule. Some might do an evening run on weekdays before dinner or a spin class first thing every morning. But the same fitness routine can become monotonous fast.

This can drive a lot of people — even those who start out feeling highly motivated to work out — to lose momentum and start letting their fitness goals slide. At that point, it's vital to try something new. Research suggests that spicing things up can have benefits not only for the body but for the brain as well.

Fitness guru Shaun T., the mind behind the "Insanity" workout, told Business Insider that he's found this to be true personally and for many of the thousands of people that he's helped get fit. He created an approach to fitness that aims to transform the body in 60 days using interval training, an equipment-free workout that involves breaking up quick bursts of sweaty movement with short rest periods.

"If you’re doing the same thing every day, even if you're doing one of my workouts, maybe you need to do something different," Shaun told Business Insider.

As someone who tries to practice what he preaches, Shaun uses his own workouts to stay in shape. "I yell at myself," he said, describing what it's like to workout to a typical "Insanity" video.

Still, there are times when he doesn't feel like doing the same routine. To change things up, he advises trying something outside of your comfort zone.

"Don't force yourself to do something you're not motivated to do," Shaun said. "Get a little uncomfortable."

By putting away our usual tools and trying something completely different, we're able to challenge the body — and brain — in a novel way. A recent study published in the journal Psychological Science found that older people who were assigned to learn a new skill like quilting saw gains in memory that were still present more than a year later. This suggests that taking up a new exercise hobby, whether it's cycling, dancing, yoga, or kickboxing, could help not only increase your workout motivation but also benefit your mind.

"Being uncomfortable is the first step to great success. If you're going after something you've never had you have to have uncomfortable moments. If it was easy — if there was no discomfort — we'd all have that amazing body we wanted 100% of the time," Shaun said.

Beyond benefiting your brain, new workout routines may also help ensure you're getting the best possible physical results from your workouts.

After extended periods of exercise, the body adapts — meaning that you'll burn fewer calories with the same exact workout once you've done it repeatedly for several weeks or months. For a recent study published in the journal Current Biology, scientists tracked the activity levels of more than 300 people across the US, Ghana, Jamaica, South Africa, and the Seychelles and found that those who got the most exercise burned only as many calories throughout the day as those who were moderately active, suggesting that our bodies naturally try to burn as little energy as possible.

Switching it up can help avoid this problem because you're working muscles you may not have been using before.

"A day or two after [trying something new] you're going to be sore because you've never moved in that way. And you're going to thank yourself," Shaun said.

Megyn Kelly responded Monday to continued jabs from actress Jane Fonda over an interview Fonda gave on "Megyn Kelly Today" in September. 

Kelly's interview with Fonda, 80, went viral after the actress responded negatively to Kelly's question about her plastic surgery. Fonda has repeatedly criticized Kelly for the interview since, and on Saturday told Variety that she would appear on "Megyn Kelly" again when Kelly "comes around and learns her stuff."

"Now, a word on Jane Fonda, who appears to be fixated on an exchange I had with her months ago on this show," Kelly started a monologue at the end of her show on Monday morning. "When she first complained, I chose to say nothing. It's time to address the 'poor me' routine."

Kelly justified her question by saying that Fonda was promoting a "film about aging," and that the actress had previously discussed her plastic surgery in TV appearances, which Kelly supported with several clips of Fonda's interviews. 

Kelly then laid into Fonda over the actress' controversial Vietnam War protests, which, Kelly argued, negated Fonda's "moral indignation" over the plastic surgery question: 

"This is a woman whose name is synonymous with outrage. Look at her treatment of military during the Vietnam War. Many of our veterans still call her 'Hanoi Jane,' thanks to her radio broadcast which attempted to shame American troops. She posed on an anti-aircraft gun used to shoot down our American pilots. She called our P.O.W.s hypocrites and liars and referred to their torture as 'understandable.' Even she had to apologize years later for that gun picture. But not for the rest of it. By the way she says she is not proud of America. So, the moral indignation is a little much. She put her plastic surgery out there. Honestly, she has no business lecturing anyone on what qualifies as offensive."

• In-N-Out Burger pays its employees really well.
• Store managers earn an average yearly salary of more than $160,000, more than what the typical tech worker in Silicon Valley makes for the year.
• High wages for fast-food workers can lead to increased productivity, less employee turnover, and bigger profits in the long run.

There's a secret sauce to In-N-Out Burger's success. It pays employees really well.

The West Coast burger sensation pays store managers an average yearly salary of more than $160,000, which is about triple the industry average, according to the latest California Sun newsletter. There is no college degree or previous management experience required.

To put this into perspective, tech workers in Silicon Valley earn on average $114,654 for the year, according to a survey from hiring platform Dice.

"In-N-Out is just eons above everybody else," Saru Jayaraman, an advocate for restaurant workers in the Bay Area and director of the Food Labor Research Center at UC Berkeley, told California Sun's Mike McPhate. "On wages and benefits, they really are the best large chain."

Employees start at a higher-than-average salary of at least $13 an hour and have the opportunity to advance to six figures as a store manager. A typical architect in California makes about $112,000 a year, while a lawyer rakes in $117,000, according to jobs site Indeed.

The burger chain offers benefits including 401(k) plans, paid vacation, and dental and vision coverage for part- and full-time employees — a rarefied package in the fast-food industry. In a Glassdoor ranking of the best places to work in 2018, In-N-Out earned the No. 4 spot and beat out tech giants like Google and Microsoft. It was the only restaurant chain in the top 50.

Denny Warnick, vice president of operations at In-N-Out, told California Sun that paying employees well has always been part of the company culture.

In 1948, Harry and Esther Snyder opened the first In-N-Out in a Los Angeles suburb with quality service as a central focus. "Paying their associates well was just one way to help maintain that focus, and those beliefs remain firmly in place with us today," Warnick told California Sun.

It's not an act of charity, according to Jayaraman. Her research shows that paying employees well leads to better productivity, less employee turnover, and bigger profits.

In-N-Out is growing. The burger chain recently announced it's opening a distribution center in Colorado, which could allow it to expand beyond the West Coast. All stores must be located close to these hubs because of the company's strict policy of serving food fresh, not frozen.

Meghan Markle officially becomes a royal in May, but the perks of the job are already pouring in.

According to a tweet from Daily Mail correspondent Rebecca English, Markle now has access to a royal personal assistant, Amy Pickerill.

For more than a year, Pickerill has been a senior communications officer in the press office at Kensington Palace, working closely with Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry. Pickerill will now help Markle with scheduling, briefings, and general public relations as her new assistant private secretary.

The 32-year-old England native has already been spotted out and about with Markle and Prince Harry, often trailing behind the couple and collecting flowers for Markle at official engagements.

According to the Royal Household job listing site, Buckingham Palace is currently hiring another communications officer and a communication assistant, perhaps in an effort to build out Markle's and Prince Harry's public relations team ahead of the royal wedding.

The position for communications officer lists an annual salary of $41,860 (£30,000), depending on experience. It's unknown how much Pickerill is earning since transitioning into Markle's right-hand woman, and whether it's permanent or interim. Before joining the royals, Pickerill spent about five years working in public relations at the Royal Bank of Scotland, according to her LinkedIn page.

Markle's future sister-in-law Middleton was on the hunt for a new secretary last March after her long-time assistant resigned. She later hired Catherine Quinn, the former CEO of Said Business School at Oxford.

Quinn's duties include supporting Middleton at public events (and collecting all the gifts and flowers she receives there), briefing her on upcoming meetings, making statements on her behalf, responding to letters, and organizing her schedule.

The royal family is surprisingly transparent when it comes to hiring. Buckingham Palace maintains a page with all current job openings, which include full-time, temporary, and seasonal positions, for the Queen and other members of the royal family.

2. An Amazon Echo or Google Home smart speaker

When Amazon released the Echo three years ago, it became the first company to offer a great product that married a smart voice-assistant with a smart home device. Since then, lots of other tech companies and appliance makers have been trying to follow its lead. Google has come the closest with its Home family of Google Assistant-powered smart speakers: the Google Home Mini, the Google Home, and the Google Home Max.

Apple's HomePod, which will be powered by its Siri voice assistant, won't come out until sometime later this year, after the company initially promised it would arrive by last holiday season. So right now, if you want a top-notch smart speaker, the decision basically comes down to Amazon or Google. Which company do you feel more comfortable letting into your home?

For me, the answer here is the Amazon Echo, because it’s simple, beautiful, easy to use, and extremely useful. The Echo can hear you from one room to another, thanks to its seven omni-directional microphones, and can respond to you quickly and naturally.

And the Echo can do all sorts of amazing things, such as call an Uber for you or read you the day’s news. But it’s great at the simple stuff, including setting cooking timers and playing music.

Having owned an Echo for two years now, I honestly can’t imagine life without it.

3. Nintendo Switch

The $300 Nintendo Switch has been on the market for less than a year, but it's already gotten off to an incredible start, becoming the fastest selling video-game console in US history.

The Switch offers some simple but compelling propositions: Play games on your TV or on the go. Play by yourself or with friends. Compete in your living room or over the internet.

I’m pleased to say the game machine is even better in practice than it is in concept. Being able to play console-quality games on a handheld device that you can take with you wherever you go is a profound advance in the world of video games. It will change your expectations for what a video-game console should do and what it should be.

Most importantly, the Switch proves that nobody makes better video games than the master game maker itself, Nintendo.

"Zelda: Breath of the Wild," which launched with the console, is one of the best games ever created— it even brought my fiancée and me closer together. The other big Switch game from last year, "Super Mario Odyssey," is perhaps the best Mario game ever made, which is saying quite a lot, considering the franchise's incredible history.

With so many great-looking games on the horizon, the Switch is an absolute must-have gadget in 2018.

Princess Eugenie and London socialite Jack Brooksbank announced their engagement on Monday, heralding a second royal wedding in the space of a few months.

The announcement also prompts an observation almost as old as the British royal family itself: that the newly-betrothed couple are blood relatives.

Eugenie and Brooksbank are distant cousins — third cousins once removed, to be precise. This chart explains what's going on:

They couple share a common ancestor in the 19th-century aristocrat Thomas William Coke, the 2nd Earl of Leicester.

We found the connection via thepeerage.com, an online database of European aristocracy sourced from a variety of historical texts. Coke's entry is here, and you can click through each descendant to Brooksbank and Eugenie.

Coke is Eugenie's great-great-great-great grandfather, on the side of her mother Sarah, Duchess of York (widely known as "Fergie").

Coke is also Brooksbank's great-great grandfather, via his second marriage.

Since this marriage came when Coke was older, and also because of later marriages further down the line, there are fewer generations on the Brooksbank side of the family.

Eugenie's royal lineage comes from another section of her family tree, via her father Prince Andrew, who is the second son of Queen Elizabeth II.

The heritage gives her a claim to the British throne, though as eighth in the line of succession her chance of ever being queen is virtually non-existent.

The phenomenon is not uncommon, especially given the relatively contained social circles in which the British aristocracy has traditionally moved. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, by comparison, are related even more closely, and have a common ancestor in Queen Victoria.

Historically, royal families were very closely linked because it was strongly discouraged to marry outside of the aristocracy. Until relatively recently, all descendants of the British monarch were legally obliged to ask his or her permission before marrying.

In 2015, the British Parliament replaced that rule with a more limited one which only requires consent from the first six in the line of succession.

However, in practice Eugenie still ended up with someone very closely linked to aristocratic circles when she and Brooksbank started dating in 2010.

• US President Donald Trump was lambasted on social media after a photo in a White House handout showed him working during the government shutdown.

Your desk can shine a light on some of your work habits and personality traits.

So it's not surprising that a recent photo of US President Donald Trump spawned several reactions on social media.

The photo, in a White House handout, shows Trump sitting at the Oval Office's Resolute Desk, the surface of which is mostly clear, aside from a phone. Trump is leaning forward in his chair, apparently listening to a phone call, while wearing a white "Make America Great Again" hat.

Some Twitter users speculated about whether the president was getting much done at all, pointing to his stiff posture and empty desk.

Honor Sachs, a history professor at Western Carolina University who wrote "Home Rule: Households, Manhood, and National Expansion on the Eighteenth-Century Kentucky Frontier," compared Trump's workspace with that of previous presidents, including Barack Obama's tidy workspace and Teddy Roosevelt's paper-strewn desk.

Business Insider also found some photos of past president's desks — photos that, of course, aren't definitive portrayals of their typical workspaces. It's relatively easy to move objects around and clear things when it comes time to sign a bill or pose for a photo op.

But it's clear that Trump's White House workplace setup lacks one element that past presidents have prominently featured: family photographs.

In fairness, Trump's desk hasn't always appeared so clutter-free. Getty's Drew Angerer captured stacks of files during the president's contentious phone call in August with Australia's prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull.

But the president's desk is now barer than it was in his former spot in Trump Tower. That desk was piled high with papers and flanked by a row of trophies, photos, and bobblehead dolls on the windowsill.

In Barack Obama's White House, pictures of the president's family were prominently featured behind his desk.

• Dr. Ruth Westheimer is a psychosexual therapist. She launched the public-radio program "Sexually Speaking" in 1981.
• Since then, Westheimer says the most common questions she hears are about premature ejaculation in men and women with difficulties achieving orgasm.
• Westheimer thinks the problems are typically psychological and not physical.

"It's so very rare to get a question that surprises me, though it happens."

So says Dr. Ruth Westheimer — better known as Dr. Ruth — in her 2015 memoir, "The Doctor Is In: Dr. Ruth on Love, Life, and Joie de Vivre," cowritten with Pierre A. Lehu.

Since she launched the public-radio program "Sexually Speaking" in 1981, Westheimer says she's been hearing questions about the same two topics over and over again: "premature ejaculation or women with difficulties reaching orgasm."

I spoke with Westheimer, now 89 years old, over the phone and she told me the only thing that's really changed is that "people are asking questions with more explicit vocabulary."

In "The Doctor Is In," Westheimer writes: "You might think that since I and other advice givers … have answered these questions over and over that everyone would know the answers and stop asking them." Westheimer suspects these questions keep coming up for two reasons.

One, "young people who begin having sex start out relatively clueless, and so there is a steady influx of new people looking for this information."

Two, "as long as someone's sex life seems to be working OK, they don't bother learning the finer points. But as soon as they run into a problem, since they're embarrassed to ask anyone else, they'll turn to someone like me."

Westheimer has said before that both premature ejaculation and difficulties achieving orgasm are typically psychological.

In 2014, she tweeted: "Premature ejaculation is a learning difficulty. Guys can learn how to control when they ejaculate. Helps to have partner."

And in an interview with Glamour magazine, Westheimer said that difficulty achieving orgasm is rarely physical, and that "every woman can learn to have an orgasm." She recommended fantasizing during sex — without verbalizing what you're thinking about.

As for when to see a sex therapist, Westheimer told Motto: "Often men [experiencing premature ejaculation] who try, even those who read all about it and follow the proper procedures to the letter, end up failing. What they need is some coaching, someone like me to report back to and give them the confidence that they're on the right track."

Likewise, she told Motto, "Many women don't know that a key to reaching sexual satisfaction is to continue stimulation even through a lull in the action, so to speak. A sex therapist can help convince a woman not to give up."
